MacroAsia expands food operations in Visayas

MANILA, Philippines — Lucio Tan’s MacroAsia Corp. is expanding its food operations in the Visayas with a new joint venture.

Through its newly incorporated subsidiary MacroAsia New Ventures Inc. (MNVI), MacroAsia is teaming up with Princess Jolliant Corp. to operate the latter’s existing commissary and develop a world-class facility in Cebu to cater to a broader base of institutional clients.

The Cebu commissary will be jointly managed by MNVI and Princess Jolliant, with the goal of expanding its customer base and enhancing its operations.

A joint venture company is expected to be incorporated with the Securities and Exchange Commission within the next quarter, wherein MNVI will take a 49-percent stake.

Princess Jolliant is a Cebu-based commissary serving the quick service restaurant sector and various institutional clients.

MacroAsia said that Princess Jolliant intends to expand its production capacity and services with Cebu as its hub.

With MacroAsia’s strong track record and expertise in Luzon, Princess Jolliant invited the listed provider of aviation support and food services to become a strategic partner in its Visayas expansion.

MacroAsia said the joint venture is considered a brownfield investment, as it would assume operations of an existing commissary with an established client portfolio.

Both parties expect the venture to be immediately income-accretive.

MacroAsia president Eduardo Luy said the partnership is not just about expansion, but about building long-term partnerships in the region.

“Cebu has always been a vital center for trade, tourism and economic activity. Expanding here will allow us to serve more customers, support local businesses and create jobs, all while bringing MacroAsia’s expertise in food services to the region,” he said.
