Head Sport to employ 700 in Philippines facility

MANILA, Philippines — Tennis ball manufacturer Head Sport Philippines Inc. is planning to hire over 700 at its plant in Davao del Norte, according to the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA).
In a statement, the PEZA said that Head Sport is expected to employ more than 700 workers once its facility at the Anflo Industrial Estate in Panabo City is fully operational.
The five-hectare facility, which started commercial operations in January this year, is now part of Head Sport’s worldwide network.
Head Sport produces premium tennis balls for markets across the globe.
The Panabo facility is projected to produce 14 million dozen tennis balls annually at full production capacity, with all output for export.
Apart from the Philippines, Head Sport produces tennis balls in China and Thailand.
The Philippines was chosen by Head Sport for its manufacturing facility as the country is expected to meet the firm’s stringent quality and logistical requirements.
While Head Sport’s new facility just started operations this year, PEZA director general Tereso Panga expects the company’s operations in the Philippines to eventually account for 60 percent of its global production output.
He is optimistic that the firm will expand its presence in the Philippines soon.
