The art of Italian ceramics at Rustan's

-

MANILA, Philippines - Visit Italy without ever leaving the country with “Bella Patria! Beautiful Motherland,” Rustan’s Department Store, Stores Specialists, Inc., and Rustan’s Supermarket’s month-long Italian festival.

In addition to Italian workshops and events that customers would surely not want to miss, Rustan’s offers a diverse selection of authentic Italian home products like Capodimonte ceramics, a collection of vases, tables, photo frames, clocks, wells, fountains, and centerpieces.

Handmade from porcelain, Capodimonte originated from Naples in the early 18th century. Produced first at the Royal Factory, the firm was built when King Charles of Naples married Maria Amalia, granddaughter of the King of Poland, Augustus II, and founder of the first European hard-paste porcelain in Germany. After marrying, King Charles started to gain an interest in porcelain, which led to the many years of research and development in perfecting the use of porcelain, now known as Capodimonte.

The name of Capodimonte was associated with the finest quality of Naples porcelain and ceramics. Some of Capodimonte’s most loved classic masterpieces are intricate figurines and highly delicate floral designs. Known for its quality, uniqueness, extreme lightness, and distinct design, Capodimonte made its mark with its unique Neapolitan master craftsmanship.

The secret of handcrafting and hand painting the finest Italian ceramics has been passed down from generation to generation. While Capodimonte is an ancient practice, this very special, ultra-light style has been revived with technical innovations and continuous research for new shapes and decorations.

One brand featured in Rustan’s Capodimonte’s collection is Ceramiche Devis. Founded in 1968, Ceramiche Devis is a family-owned business that has been crafting original, genuine Capodimonte pieces. They offer a wide range of products, from small gifts to large statuettes, vases to home décor. Some of these items include baskets, vases, candelabras, mirrors, lamps, figurines, and tea sets.

Learn more about the beauty and tradition of Capodimonte with an interactive demonstration by Devis Rossi today, June 25, 3 p.m. at The Grand Atrium of Shangri-La Plaza; June 26, 3 p.m. at Rustan’s Alabang Town Center; and June 28, 3 p.m. at Rustan’s Cebu.
