-

MANILA, Philippines - EACOMM Corporation hosted a cocktail reception to celebrate the publication of its first book project, Private Collections. More than 200 guests turned up at the Isla Ballroom 3 of EDSA Shangri-La Hotel to welcome the release of the limited-edition art book and to have it signed by the art collectors.

Private Collections is a book about private art collecting and collectors in the Philippines. It tells the passions and visions of 30 Filipino collectors and follows their tastes in art — from masters to contemporary artists.

Written and designed for a general readership, each of the 30 collectors is devoted 10 to 14 pages and contains representative examples of their art collections. Distinguished patrons of the arts and private art collectors covered in this book include George Ty, Hans Sy, David Consunji, Washington SyCip, Joey de Leon, Charlie Cojuangco, Julius Babao, Mikee Romero, Napoleon Abueva and leading businessmen and professionals in the Philippines including Sonny Dominguez, Arsenio Tanco, Jose Maria Esteban, Eddie Chua, Cesar Duque, Manny Zialcita, Saul Hofileña, Ramon Cardenas, Louie Ojeda, Joven Santiago, Gilbert Santos, Joel Jimenez, Manolet Salak III, Wilmer Hontiveros, Joel Butuyan, Alexander Tan, Norman Crisologo, Mark Villar, Patrick Reyno and two other noted female collectors, Ester Gabaldon and Evelyn Dy.

This book also offers fine examples of paintings and sculptures of Filipino masters such as Juan Luna, Felix Resurrecion Hidalgo, Fabian de la Rosa, Fernando Amorsolo, Victorio Edades, Guillermo Tolentino, Botong Francisco, Vicente Manansala, Hernando Ocampo, Napoleon Abueva, Cesar Legaspi, Jose Joya, Ang Kiukok, Jeremias Elizalde Navarro, Abdulmari Imao, BenCAb, Federico Aguilar Alcuaz, as well as Anita Magsaysay-Ho, Fernando Zobel, Juvenal Sanso, Mauro Malang Santos, Onib Olmedo, Danny Dalena, Ramon Orlina, Pacita Abad, Romeo Tabuena, and Norma Belleza; contemporary and emerging artists who have made names internationally such as Manuel Ocampo, Mark Justiniani, Manny Garibay, Elmer Borlongan, Ronald Ventura, Marcel Antonio, Geraldine Javier, Jose John Santos III, Alfredo Esquillo Jr., etc. are also represented.

Private Collections is published by Artes de las Filipinas. The first edition is limited to 1,000 copies and is accompanied with an interactive CD-ROM. Also, a unique feature of this book is the six different covers that it presents to readers — conveying the theme of privacy, collectors and collecting. Advance copies are now available for purchase in Artes de las Filipinas’ on-line store.
