British energy firms in talks for supply deals

MANILA, Philippines - British energy firms are in talks with local companies for possible supply deals, company executives said in a business forum organized by the British Embassy Manila on Friday.

The forum, organized by the Embassy through the United Kingdom Trade & Investment Manila gathered six companies namely UK-based Arup, Corporate Services, Lloyd’s Register, Lucy Switchgear and Tsors Limited.

In an interview with reporters, Cidra managing director for the Pacific Rim Michael Murphy said he met with mining and energy firms such as Philex Mining Corp., Atlas Mining, PIlipinas Shell Petroleum Corp. and Energy Development Corp. for possible supply deals. “We met with these companies for possible partnerships,” he said.

The second and third step would be to actually engage Philippines companies for partnership deals and eventually, the company may set up an office in the Philippines.

Cidra, which has a strong presence in Northern America and Australia, supplies equipment that could help make mining and energy businesses operate more efficiently. The equipment include products that can ensure the integrity of a gas pipeline, enhance gas flow and improve the yield in the mining process.

“We have products for the entire workflow in the process of mining,” Murphy said.
