Parfois opens first store in Asia

The global consumer and the fashion industry have emerged differently after the financial downturn of 2008. With less emphasis on expensive trendy clothes, a downturn in the worldwide economy sees a more than significant increase in the sale of accessories.

Stylish buyers have looked to more lasting pieces such as classic white shirts and simple black pants paired with modern accessories to accent one’s wardrobe.

Accessorizing is a new concept for the Filipina. But with the availability of foreign magazines, the popularity of style blogs, and the opening of international chain stores in our malls, modern Filipinas have learned to incorporate hats, rings, bracelets, necklaces and even headpieces into their style.

Parfois, an accessories brand from Portugal, is a welcome new presence to provide us a variety of trendy yet affordable pieces.

The Lisbon-based brand enters the Manila market hot on the heels of a booming concept, which focuses on the current retail philosophy of fast fashion.

With that in mind, Parfois will carry new products every 10 days, perfect for the early adopters and fashion trend followers, says Rogerio Alves, Parfois marketing manager, who visited our shores for the opening of their very first store in Asia.

Alves says the energy of the Philippine retail market plus the rise of fashion-savvy Filipinas have prompted Parfois’ parent company Barata & Ramile to partner with Vogue Concepts, the local distributors of Promod, Etam and Flojos to bring Parfois to Manila.

Parfois has a variety of accessories from costume jewelry, belts, bags, shoes, sunglasses and scarves with prices ranging from P59 for rings and hairpieces to P2,400 for luggage.

The products reflect the vibrance and energy of Barcelona and Porto, the cities where the Parfois design teams are based.

Parfois’ Fall/Winter collection boasts of three thematic looks for the season—scruffy chic, romantic army and 2046.

Scruffy chic channels a ‘90s grunge era flashback, but with refined details.

Romantic army combines military greens, punk rivets and chains pulled together in a feminine overall look.

2046 evokes a more subdued, yet cinematic look reminiscent of 1950s Dior and Alfred Hitchcock films.
