Casa y Jardin bazaar opens tomorrow

-

MANILA, Philippines - The much-awaited Casa y Jardin bazaar of the Catholic Women’s Club will be held at the Grand Ballroom of Hotel Intercontinental on two successive Sundays, Oct. 9 and 16 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Casa y Jardin has a unique feature that sets it apart from other bazaars — exclusive sale of the Mother & Child limited-edition plate derived from paintings of well-known artists. Now in its 26th series, the featured artist for 2011 is noted visual artist Anita Magsaysay Ho. As the CWC is celebrating its 90th anniversary this year, the bazaar will also sell a commemorative plate by National Artist Botong Francisco. Nina Dizon, Maritess Pineda and Joey Sobrepeña comprise the limited-edition plate committee.

Original paintings and prints of National Artist Arturo Luz, which he painted especially for CWC’s 90th year anniversary, will also be on sale.

Also unique to the Casa y Jardin Bazaar is the very popular Gold Elephant table that sells all brand-new items donated by members, which are sold at giveaway prices. This year, the Gold Elephant Table will also be manned by children and grandchildren of CWC members, while the other children will help as gatekeepers, raffle ticket sellers and stampers as a hands-on training for them in responsibility and service.

The bazaar offers Christmas and home décor, branded clothes, export overruns, jewelry, houseware, bags, ladies’ accessories, footwear, toys and food. Maid’s uniforms made by women through CWC’s initiative are also available.

Casa y Jardin’s bazaar committee: (seated) Rose Lazaro, co-chair Ane Preysler, CWC president Mimi Valerio, chairperson Nikki Valerio, Nene Leonor, Tessie Rodrigo, co-chair Terry Tambunting; (standing) Maria Algeier, Nini Valdez, Nonie Basilio, Shirley Uy, Azun Zubiri, Carmiña Mantecon, Nina Dizon

CWC president Mimi Valerio and the Casa y Jardin committee chaired by Nikki Valerio with Ane Preysler and Terry Tambunting as co-chairs, invite shoppers to the bazaar and become partners in supporting charities such Elsie Gaches Village, Alabang Hospice, Good Shepherd and 65 other beneficiaries. Before the year ends, CWC and Gawad Kalinga will turn over 38 housing units to qualified beneficiaries in Taguig City.

Visa and MasterCard credit cards will be accepted.
