Robinsons opens first full-service mall in Ilocos Norte

MANILA, Philippines – Robinsons Malls remain firm and aggressive as it looks forward to many things to be optimistic about in 2009. One is that it will open an impressive number of malls and establishments in different parts of the country within the year.

Just recently, Robinsons Malls marked another milestone as it introduced the very first full-service mall in Robinsons Ilocos Norte to various national and local food and retail tenants during its successfully concluded Tenant Conference and Topping Off Ceremony.

Robinsons Ilocos Norte is set to open by the last quarter of 2009 and will be Robinsons Malls’ 25th mall in the country. It is situated at San Nicolas, less than five minutes away from the center of Laoag City. The 30,700 square meter, two-level mall development property will house the malls’ main anchor stores such as Robinsons Supermarket, Robinsons Department Store, Handyman Do It Best Home Center, Toys R’ Us Toybox, Robinsons Appliance and Movieworld. It will also feature popular food chains, coffee shops, apparel, footwear, sporting goods, a drug store, book store, banks, hobby shops, amusement center, gadget stores, health and wellness clinics and more.

 It stands along Manila North Road and is near major landmarks such as the Ilocos Norte College of Arts and Trade, Northwestern University and San Nicolas Church. It will also be an integral component of The Center, a mixed-use development featuring various establishments such as a hotel, residential and office buildings developed by Venvi Development Corporation.

Robinsons Malls general manager Cornelio S. Mapa welcomed tenants and guests during the event, together with Robinsons Malls vice president for property management Tommy L. O, Robinsons Malls group property lease director Joan Cosico and Robinsons Ilocos Norte group property manager Jojo Nolasco.

San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte Mayor Alfredo Valdez led the unveiling and topping off of the project. . There were also representatives from Chowking, Greenwich, Jollibee, KFC, Max’s, Pizza Hut, Bench, Penshoppe, Manels, Van Heusen, Trod, LBC, Worlds of Fun, Tom’s World, Mercury Drug, Smart, CD-R King, David’s Salon, Reddot, Cool Eyes, Aowa, E-Bar, Phyla Herbs, La Precioso, Glowing Ventures, La Moda Panciteria, Medi Broadcasting, Villalydia, Mom’s Country Kitchen and Imelda Dry Goods.  

Robinsons Malls is also set to open four other malls in other regions within the year, namely Robinsons Place Tacloban, Robinsons Place Dumaguete, Robinsons Place General Santos and a special cyber and lifestyle center in Cebu.

Aside from its future mall development, Robinsons Land’s Housing and Land Development Division also has two residential subdivision projects currently being developed in the province, Brighton Parkplace and Hanalei Heights.
