The stylish 20/20 entertainment center at The Bellevue Hotel’s top floor became the perfect venue for this affair – the place spoke of an easy elegance as well as a strong contemporary impact. Here, music lovers enjoy their favorite melodies while taking in the panoramic views of the famed Manila Bay sunset, scenic Tagaytay, Laguna de Bay, the Alabang residential areas and the Makati skyline.
Bestworld Beverage Brands, Inc. became the provider of the spirits for the wine tasting, showcasing various French wines such as the vigorous Alexis Lichine Cabernet Sauvignon 2001, the well-structured Bordeaux Rouge 2001 and the elegant Pasquier Desvignes Cotes Du Rhone Blanc 2001. The full-bodied Chateauneuf Du Pape 2001, the light Café De Paris and the well-balanced Cruse Brouilly 2001 were enjoyed as well.

Amazement and wonder were very evident on the face of Exequiel ‘Excy’ Robles, president of Sta. Lucia Realty and Development, when family, friends and agents surprised him with a grand birthday party at the Quezon Ballroom of the Shangrila Makati recently.
Excy, who is fondly called ‘his excellency 101’ by colleagues, did not know what hit him when the spotlight and music marked his entrance at the ballroom. The room which was choc-a-bloc with well-wishers was a testimony to the goodwill and popularity of this endearing man. Among those who trooped in to wish Excy health and happiness on his special day were the board of directors of Sta Lucia Health Care Center led by Dr. Geoffrey Angeles and Fairways and Bluewater chairman Toti Cariño.
The evening kicked off with Frannie Zamora singing the invocation followed by a sumptuous dinner. A lively and fast-paced program was hosted by television personality the immensely pretty and talented Christine "Tin-Tin" Bersola and Excy’s childhood friend, businessman Alex Ciruela.
The Whiplash Dancers performed an electrifying opening number. Sta Lucia agents, basketball players and other family friends staged a "Pasasalamat" production number and multi-awarded entertainer Willie Nepomuceno gave a rib tickling performance as Excy’s alleged twin from Macau.
The birthday boy was serenaded by a bevy of beauties. Rico J. Puno, one of Excy’s favorite entertainers, took the stage and regaled him with an excellent interactive performance. Excy and his loving wife Diding were encouraged to join Rico on stage and belt out some numbers, too. As a fitting end to the evening, Excy’s daughter Michelle took to the stage along with the Whiplash dancers and guided the crowd for a night of dancing and merriment.
The gathering was a strong testament of the love and good wishes that encircle the warm, kindhearted, down-to-earth Excy and his family. Building a mighty business conglomerate from humble beginnings, Excy is a true son of the soil.
