Beauty Experts’ beauty secrets

Dear Tingting,
We’ve heard the beauty experts give advice. I wonder if they, too, subscribe to a beauty regimen.
Krisen
Let’s hear the beauty secrets of the beauty experts:
Dr. Baby Cervantes:
I use foaming gel soap twice a day. I put eye cream, followed by sunblock with foundation when going out. At bedtime, after washing my face, I apply cream and then either Endocare or any available moisturizer with antioxidant. I use retinol once every other month. I do either a mild chemical peel for facial rejuvenation or a light or microdermabrasion. For eruption of pimples, I apply erythromycin gel. I also eat a balanced diet and I do routine exercises.
Dr. Sylvia Huang:
I wash my face at least twice a day and apply a light moisturizer, preferably the lotion type that suits Manila weather. After that, a sunblock. I use a water-based foundation in the morning. At night, I wash my face again and apply a light moisturizer and vitamin cream to retard aging.
Dr. Eloisa Buse :
I do Obagi, Thermage, and Fraxel.
Dr. Vermen Verallo:
Daily exercise: Twice a week at the gym, for the past eight years with Ned Hurani as my personal trainer/consultant; three times a week, doubles tennis with trainers and my husband. The rest, brisk walking twice around Cambridge Circle in our village. Soon, as a first-time lola, more weights and some running with the baby. My blood chemistries are all normal. I do not take any medications. On medical rounds, up and down the stairs of Makati Medical Center, and in my stiletto heels, I can outpace any of my much younger residents!
Diet: Being quite petite, I have always been on many types of diets dictated by others. The past several years, I have seriously studied nutrition in dermatology. Out of these studies and my own research at VMV Skin Research Center and Clinics, I wrote my first book on nutrition: Rx: Coconuts (The Perfect Health Nut!). Simply stated, I eat lots of vegetables, some fruits, high-fiber foods plus instead of saturated or trans-fat-containing oils in processed foods, I substitute coconut-based products. I have not been sick in years, despite exposure to hospital-based infections daily. I drink plenty of water and often, red wine at night with dinner.
Spiritual: What works for me is daily meditation as much as an hour, although at times it is just a few minutes, so I take meditation "catnaps" through the day. Practice momentism, which is focus always on the moment  listen, see, look, focus. For instance, my patients know or may recognize that when they sit in front of me, I focus on them, and entertain no other thoughts, but them in the moment.
Skin care: I only use products without perfumes, preservatives, or any of the top chemical ingredients known from various research studies to produce allergies. Of these products, I use the following daily: Glykeros Lift Off, eye and lip lift contour serum, treatment comfort, cleansing cream, cleansing scrub, body and bath; Superwash hair and body milk shampoo; Treatment Toning Essence; Illuminants Active; Brilliance Advanced Formula; Skin Saving antiperspirant.
From head to toe, I pamper myself with a generous, palm full of organic, first-pressed virgin coconut oil. Plus a milky substance fresh from the VSRC Pharmacy  either retinoic acid or mandelic acid 20% in virgin coconut oil.
Especially for the skin, I use Skin Savvy 60 Ultra-High Protection, Creamy Perfection, Liquid-Creme Foundation  these protect me from UVB and indoor UVA, infrared, and visible light because I am in front of a computer about eight to 10 hours a day! I slather on Armada Sport 70 sunblock for all exposed areas, even areas covered by thin sun-see-through clothes.

Dear Lucy,
Can you help me find a lipstick in a nude-peach shade? The ones I end up buying always look either too pale or too metallic and I cannot pull it off for a day look. I want something that can work from night to day. Also, I am very wary of lip plumpers and I find them way too expensive. Cud you suggest an inexpensive but great find?
Mercy Anne
My current favorite in a peachy nude shade is from Paul & Joe. I got mine on a recent trip to the US, but the good news is this lovely French label is already in the Philippines! I bought their lip gloss in shade # 04 and I am totally loving it! Plus the packaging is such a sweetheart, it is glamorous and very pretty at the same time, more than enough reason to retouch your lips many, many times in one day (or night). Paul & Joe is available at Rustan’s. For an inexpensive lip plumping gloss, try the one from Bench. It works well, the packaging is hip and square (literally), and the colors are delicious. Plus the price will not pinch your wallet at all. Here’s to many more reasons to smile.!
