Level-up for the new year

For years Filipinos have enjoyed the unfailing service of the Greenwich food chain. The food, ambience and overall dining experience are consistent and never disappoint. This reliability gives Greenwich the confidence to tag itself as the “Philippines’ Favorite Pizza Chain.”

Without a doubt, this is a very packed statement. Not only does it address the entire country, but also other pizza chains in the market. To be able to keep referring to itself as such, Greenwich must continue to be on top of its game. It must sustain reliability while successfully reinventing itself.

Last year was a successful one for Greenwich, as its “Sobrang Cheesy” campaign saw a lot of airtime. Greenwich was the recipient of numerous awards in 2009, including the prestigious Gold Araw Award for Best Integrated Campaign in the recent Philippine Advertising Congress. Achievements such as these fuel the company to remain competitive in the cutthroat field of fast food. It is now 2010, and Greenwich is keeping up the momentum to stay ahead of the pack.

This year, Greenwich is living by the catchphrase “Level-up na!”, promising very good things for its customers. This improvement does not only affect their core products of pizza and pasta, but also it is a “level-up” in terms of innovations and the ability to provide excellent in-store customer experience.

The changes start in the stores themselves. If you haven’t already noticed, some Greenwich outlets have been renovated and made to look more hip. This is probably one of the larger cosmetic changes that the chain is undergoing. Greenwich has labeled these outlets “Fast Casual” dining stores, with the intention of discarding the fast food label. These stores are better lit, have couches and lounge chairs, and are decorated in very trendy motifs, due to a collaboration with graphics group TeamManila. The aim is to create an environment where people can just hang out, talk and chill in comfort. Barkadas and the younger set will like the new adjustments.

This month, Greenwich also introduces new dishes into its menu. First is the Ultimate Hawaiian Overload pizza. So think Hawaiian pizza, but with double the toppings, filled to the edge of the pizza crust. New Pizza Fries have been added as well, which don’t exactly fit the menu, but they’re good, so it’s okay. Lastly, Greenwich has also added American-style plate meals to the menu — again, not really a perfect fit for the menu, but they work. The Quarter Slab Ribs slide right off the bone and the Thick n’ Tender Chops are soft and juicy.

Aside from alterations in the stores look and menu, the servers in the Greenwich Fast Casual outlets have been outfitted in designer duds — by no less than the famous Randy Ortiz. These stylish uniforms more than complement Greenwich’s new look. Sporting fashion by Randy Ortiz, the workforce couldn’t be happier. This little change is sure to bring out their happiest smiles, so customers can expect the friendliest service.

Lastly, Greenwich has recruited “eventologist” Tim Yap to be the new ambassador for their line of Fast Casual stores. Tim is one of those personalities who is always outgoing and adventurous. He is in the know when it comes to being hip and stylish. And now that he has accepted Greenwich’s invitation, he intends to put his stamp on the brand and the franchise. “It feels great to represent a company that believes in constantly leveling-up. I’m happy to be a collaborator in their success. Being a part of the Greenwich Fast Casual stores is a way to bring people together, so that they can hang out and so that great minds can converge,” says Tim.

It’s only the middle of February and it seems Greenwich is going to steamroll right through the rest of 2010. With just over 10 months more to go in the year, expect innovative campaigns and bigger surprises from the Philippines’ Favorite Pizza Chain. No doubt, Greenwich is leveling up.
