Punta De Fabian: Favored by many

- Lester Gopela Hallig -

MANILA, Philippines - Few resorts are able to expertly balance the needs of its corporate clients and its leisure travelers. Punta de Fabian is one of the few that could pull off that feat. It is no surprise why, in its six-year existence, it has quickly gained a loyal following from both the corporate and leisure worlds. With new guests fast getting in on this not-so-secret establishment, Punta de Fabian promises to make bigger and better things happen in the coming months.

“We will launch a new building in a few months. It will be the new lobby as a receiving area for the guests and additional four PDF Suite rooms and eight rooms for top executives as twin occupancy and can accommodate two extra beds in each unit,” begins Punta de Fabian owner Teresita Fabian-Pamintuan.

The new structure adds to the recently opened function room called the Rizal Hall, which proved to be a hit for conferences, debuts, birthday parties, and wedding receptions. For those using the Rizal Hall for business, it can hold 50 to 100 people and comes complete with a basic sound system, an LCD screen, an easel board, white board and marker, mints and candies, pad papers and pencils, flowing coffee, and distilled water.

It is amazing that in the few years of its operation, Punta de Fabian has grown into a resort that has become a byword in the business and leisure communities. Even more amazing is the fact that the resort actually began as a rest house of the Pamintuan family.

Her daughter Theresa Joy Pamintuan, who serves as Punta de Fabian president, relates, “When my mother had cancer, she had this resort built. This was where she was able to relax during her days as a cancer patient. In fact, she loved this place so much that she decided to develop this property from the ground up.”

Teresita adds, “Our friends convinced us to open this place to the public. They were happy with their stay and experience here. What we did was renovate the old rooms, built new rooms, a basketball court, a restaurant, and a recreation area.” The resort opened in July 2005.

The mother-and-daughter tandem now runs the entire complex, now the preferred choice of leisure travelers and business groups alike.

“Punta De Fabian is conducive for business,” Theresa Joy asserts. “We are able to capture the corporate accounts with our spacious indoor function rooms and the basic amenities required for seminars or teambuilding events.”

She happily notes that their outdoor facilities have become attractions in themselves. Aside from the basketball court that can be used for relay events, it is the resort’s 1,000-square-meter maze that has become a talking point.

“The maze creates strategic games for the participants to enjoy,” she points out. “We also have a peaceful environment that attracts both corporate guests for their meetings and families for their relaxation.”

“The resort has that feeling of home, an atmosphere of familiarity boosted, too, by our Filipino and Asian cuisine. Because it is upon reservation, in a way, all reserved clients are able to enjoy the amenities of the place,” Teresita remarks. Job well done indeed for Punta de Fabian’s developer MJP Construction and Development Corp.

She is referring to Punta de Fabian staples such as the 160-sqm infinity pool, Jacuzzi, lagoon-shaped pool, volleyball and badminton courts, and children’s pool. The resort has an ample lineup of indoor activities: billiards, table tennis, darts, game boards, and videoke.

Presently, Punta de Fabian offers 27 lakefront rooms furnished with spacious beds, television sets, hypoallergenic pillows, separate showers and baths, terraces, Wi-Fi Internet access, and all-natural toiletries. “We will add four executive PDF rooms for twin-triple occupancy,” Theresa Joy shares. Guests are well advised to check out the café, restaurant, poolside and scenic deck bar, among others.

“It is a bonus for our guests to take in the splendid view of the mountains, hills, Laguna de Bay, and towns of Rizal province. We are thankful that we are located in Baras — that fact allows our guests to travel more to our neighboring towns and explore the richness of this province, from its food to its art,” she says.

For the rainy season up to Sept. 30, Punta de Fabian is offering a 20 percent discount promo, indeed great value for all travelers.

All these offerings and developments are great news from both mother and daughter who chorus that the success of Punta de Fabian continues to inspire them: “If we look back at 2005, the year we opened, up to the present, Punta de Fabian has really grown in terms of amenities, personnel, cuisine, and services. All these are meant to satisfy our guests.” Judging from the growing number of its repeat guests and happy first-timers, Punta de Fabian has certainly made its mark.
