Sante Barley duathlon lures 400 entries

MANILA, Philippines - More than 400 participants are set to compete in endurance tests tomorrow as the Sante Barley Domination (duathlon, criterium and individual time trials) fires off at the Clark International Speedway in Clark, Pampanga.

The Pure Barley Duathlon (4 Km run – 40 Km bike – 4 Km run) has 320 participants listed while the Whey Barley Criterium and the Barley Pure Time Trial has over 100 participants. The criterium and ITT are cycling events which will take place after the duathlon. A total of P40,000 in cash prizes are at stake for the duathlon’s Elite Male and Female winners while the Top 3 Male and Female categorical winners for all three competitions (duathlon, criterium and ITT) will receive medals and gift packs.

The event supported by GU, Garmin, Pure Barley, Whey Barley, Barley Pure, Fontana Leisure Parks, SPIN.ph, Multisport.ph, SBR.ph and Raceday marks the first time that Sante Barley is sponsoring a duathlon which is being organized by BikeKing headed by Raul Cuevas.

“We are happy that this event attracted a wide field of participants and sports clubs from around the nation and we are also excited about the action set to happen on race day,” said Sante Barley chief executive officer (CEO) Jesus Joey Marcelo who himself participated in several multisports events.  

On the same day a race expo will be held from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM led by SlmS (Sante Impact System) at the race venue. SlmS is the very first revolutionized system designed and developed by a group of experienced athletic trainer and respected physiotherapists in the Philippines. The system utilized interactive multimedia tools to deliver unique and comprehensive performance assessment programming.
