The Malayan Plaza Hotel: A step beyond

MANILA, Philippines - What do guests look for in a hotel? Guests are driven by different personal requirements and preferences to suit their purpose of travel and make them return time and again. What makes a hotel experience worth it could be as varied as the guests themselves.

For some, the level of service matters most, while some go for the ambiance of the hotel. For others, what’s important are the location and the activities its surroundings can offer, while others specially take into account the facilities and amenities that they can use.

“Our guests love that we have bigger rooms compared to other regular hotels. Our rooms measure 42 square meters to 93 square meters as the biggest. The room comes with living, dining and kitchen facilites. We cater to guests who are staying for longer periods,” says Salvano.

She adds that because they provide large rooms and competitive rates, guests naturally feel that they are getting more value for their money.

Complementing the enhancement and upgrade of its room facilities are new room categories offering more options. For one, The Malayan Plaza now boasts of a studio triple deluxe room particularly designed for corporate group travelers as it comes with three single beds.

“Our hotel’s main market are corporate accounts,” explains Salvano. “Currently, we are able to balance our market share with online travel agents and the domesitc market as well. To meet our target revenues, we join local travel trade shows and embark on sales and provincial sales trips.” 

The hotel has also drawn up promos and other treats to entice more guests. Currently, it has the Suite Deal promo, wherein guests can enjoy themselves in a one-bedroom deluxe room for a package rate of P3,900 net, inclusive of daily buffet breakfast, complimentary bottled water, local newspaper, and Wi-Fi connection.  

Worth noting are The Malayan Plaza’s roster of facilities and amenities that should redefine customer ease and convenience. It has four passenger elevators and one service elevator, concierge and transport service, laundry service, and daily personalized maid service. 

Meeting rooms, business facilities with Internet, secretarial service, photocopy and fax service, as well as courier service are also available to take care of business needs.

After wrapping up a maddening day of various activities, guests can relax and re-energize in the hotel’s outdoor pool, Jacuzzi, fitness room, mini-golf putting green, jogging path, and garden deck. For guests with children in tow, there’s a playground and kiddie pool.  

Service, nevertheless, is one hotel essential that The Malayan Plaza takes seriously as hotel staffers extend warmth and hospitality the moment guests check in or if and when they need personalized assistance for special requests.

“I believe we have the excellent service of the staff as one of the reasons why we have loyal, repeat guests who keep coming back to stay with us,” Salvano says.

Truly so, The Malayan Plaza has it all and more to continually serve its loyal and first-time guests, while maintaining a bullish outlook toward serving the country’s increasing number of visitors.

“The Department of Tourism has lined up various programs and partnerships with airlines, tours and others to achieve the target arrival of visitors,” says Salvano. “We are happy to say that we continue to experience high occupancy despite the stiff competition with other hotels in the area. This is because of our continued effort to offer competitive rates to maintain and achieve our targets.”
