Weapon of choice: Fatboy Slim

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Funk Soul BrotherPraise You and Push The Tempo are just some of the hits by English DJ, musician, and record producer Fatboy Slim, who is set to perform live in Manila for the first time at Republiq, Resorts World for the country’s avid partyphiles. With a legacy in the music industry beginning in the 1980s, Fatboy Slim’s tracks have been a staple in every raver’s playlist.

All about intense energy, one of his most famous videos was for his single “Weapon of Choice” which featured Academy Award winner Christopher Walken dancing as the focus of the video. Fifty-seven years of age at the time, Walken helped Fat Boy Slim bag the award for Breakthrough Video and Best Direction at the 2001 MTV Music Awards. Fatboy Slim was king of the Moon Men the same year taking home a total of six awards for the same song.

His 2010 venture comes in a little closer to our shores, collaborating with Scottish musician David Byrne for the concept album “Here Lies Love” based on the life of former first lady of the Philippines Imelda Marcos, which has since been adopted as a rock musical for a 2013 premiere at The Public Theater.

On October 10, 2013, World Wide Womb, Driven Manila and Republiq, the country’s leading purveyors of the hottest concert parties, will bring Fat Boy Slim Live in Manila. All roads will lead to Republiq as this event will bring dance and music denizens all together to move and groove to Fat Boy Slim’s past and present hits.
