Face your fierce
MANILA, Philippines - There was a time when most everybody started looking, acting and reacting alike. In a homogenous world made smaller by all things technological, it is but logical that in the rush to take three steps forward, we also take two steps back.
Human beings are a mixed lot. We might breathe the same air, but God knows our breaths are all different. We might buy the same shirt, but we’ll wear it differently. We might be faced with the same situation but each one deals with it in different ways. Just when you think life today is all about the random, today marks the comeback of FIERCE~not that it ever left.
Fierce is within us, it’s both visible and invisible. You can see it in the animal print of Divine Lee’s April 2012 Preview cover, in Rajo Laurel’s Athletenique summer collection and in every megawatt celebrity that Liz Uy chooses to style. Divine, queen of the “fierces,” has been a champion of the LGBT community and is now making her mark on televsion. Rajo Laurel just scored a home run when Tyra Banks chose to wear a couple of Rajo Laurel outfits for the latest season of America’s Next Top Model. Liz has made the transition from stylist to celebrities to celebrity herself, counting magazine covers and endorsements under her multi-faceted belt.
DJ Vinimal or Callum David attracted a lot of attraction recently, as the man behind the decks, spinning his music as the gorgeous ladies who want to be named Miss Philippines sashayed away around him. For his passion in music, he trended number two, worldwide. Victor Basa is quiet in nature, but his core is about music and fashion, you can see it in his blog posts, YStyle men’s articles and in the way he carries himself. Besides, he has a fierce partner who, only he is able to tame. Oops!
Your turn to tweet and Instagram
Fierce can be seen in Maxene Magalona’s tweets, how she handles cyber bullies and fans, the same way she tackles each role assigned to her as an actress. Her Instagram photos reflect that as well~sweetness is her facade, but strength is what is inside. The F word is what is likewise evident in Robby Carmona’s colorful fashion staging. Beyond that is a man so passionate with everything he does, intense is an understatement.
Feel FIERCE emanating from G Tongi’s persona as she returns to Manila with her family to tackle her career. Moving from one place to another in pursuit of your life’s next chapter reveals G’s inner fire. Nothing can stop her from success. Speaking of another chapter, she is on to her next, as Professional Models Association of the Philippines’ (PMAP) president Phoemela Baranda moves forward in pursuit of models embodying what the word truly means.
And Tessa, in every waking moment, pre- Hunger Games peg, has been at the forefront of bringing people together, under the banner of fun. Over the top, yes. In more ways than one. All aforementioned personalities are quite visible, but there is more than meets the eye. One thing is certain. They are all FIERCE.
Fierce is facing who you are and celebrating it loudly as you can. I invited my friends to the FIERCE installation at the Mega Atrium, snapped a couple of pictures and here’s what happened. Some caused a commotion, bystanders had photos taken, one even did a headstand!
