The journey of Soc Villegas
MANILA, Philippines - Sept. 28,1960: Born in to Norma Jacinta Buenaventura and the late Emiliano Villegas. The youngest of three children.
1960’s-70s: Took primary education at his Pateros hometown and finished high school at Colegio de San Juan de Letran in Manila. Received his Master of Arts in Theological Studies at San Carlos Seminary in Guadalupe, Makati.
Oct. 5, l985: Ordained to priesthood at the Immaculate Conception Cathedral in Manila by Jaime Cardinal Sin to whom he served as personal secretary. He also served as rector of the Edsa Shrine and Vicar General of the archdiocese.
July 26, 2001: Pope John Paul II appointed him Auxiliary Bishop.
July 3, 2004: He was installed as the third Bishop of Balanga, Bataan.
2006: He convoked the First Diocesan Synod. He also founded St. Joseph’s College of Balanga.
Sept. 8, 2009: Pope Benedict XVI appointed him Archbishop of Ligayen-Dagupan, Pangasinan.
