Readers find the Lost Symbol at midnight

-

MANILA, Philippines - The world’s most eagerly awaited book is now available at all National Book Stores nationwide as The Lost Symbol by Dan Brown was unveiled during a midnight book launch at Glorietta 5.

Brown, who introduced all of us to the mysterious and cryptic world of symbology, has his hero Robert Langdon running through the streets of Washington DC in a fast-paced hunt against a new foe.

Tim Yap and Tessa Prieto-Valdes joined NBS founding chair Socorro “Nanay” Ramos, NBS Foundation chairman Trina Alindogan and Random House Asia sales director Rino Balatbat in the countdown and unveiling of the new book.

Alindogan says that priced at only P780, they tried to make the book as affordable as possible because this is National Book Store’s chance to get as many people to read as possible.

“It is only once in a while that we have a book like The Lost Symbol,” Trina Alindogan says. “Everyone wants to read it. So this is our chance to get people to take a few hours off and discover the joys of reading. If they enjoy this book, chances are pretty good that they will read another book. And another book. We don’t get a chance to promote reading like this too often.”

The launch was a resounding success as self-proclaimed “Brown-iacs,” bloggers, media and even the occasional readers who rarely find themselves in a bookstore converged at Glorietta 5 in spite of the very late hour. What awaited those who wanted to be first was an outpouring of freebies from National Book Store, Globe Tattoo and midnight snacks for everyone — Krispy Kreme Doughnuts and Chef Tony’s Gourmet Popcorn.

As if all the freebies were not enough, Globe is exclusively offering all buyers of The Lost Symbol the chance to buy a Globe Tattoo for P695. Alindogan points out that “for less than P1,500, which is the original US retail price of the book, you can get The Lost Symbol and a Globe Tattoo!”

Dan Brown’s The Lost Symbol is available for P780 at all National Book Stores. Exclusive freebies include a raffle coupon for a chance to win Nokia 1208 phones, illustrated editions of The Da Vinci Code and Angels & Demons and the opportunity to buy a limited-edition Globe Tattoo for only P695.

Buy a copy of Dan Brown’s latest thriller, The Lost Symbol, and get the limited-edition Globe Prepaid Tattoo Kit for only P695!
