Dog and Cat Expo at Pet Express

MANILA, Philippines - Dog and cat lovers recently gathered together with their furry friends for the first Pet Express “Dog and Cat Expo 2012” at SM Mall of Asia.

Organized by Pet Express, the dog and cat shop, the event not only highlighted great new ways to care for pets, but also a good cause. Its proceeds will be given to Pet Express’ non-profit organizations partners: Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS), Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), Compassion and Responsibility for Animals (CARA), the Strike Animal Welfare Society (SAWS) and the Island Rescue Organization (IRO).

Many dog and cat enthusiasts not only had the chance to enjoy great discounts in shopping for their pets at the Expo, but also joined in the fun games, grooming demos, and pack walk activity. They also joined in the PAWS’ “Stick a Spot on Spot Campaign,” wherein they expressed their love for their pets by sticking a spot on Spot, the huge white dog public art installation. Proceeds of this will go to PAWS. 

Two international dog groomers, Sharon Hall and Deborah Ryan from the International Groomers Company, were a hit as they shared valuable tips in the “Grooming Wizards of Oz” activity. International Grooming Company director Sharon Hall, an international certified master groomer, has made it her advocacy to provide education and knowledge for pet stylists and for professional dog groomers.

Deborah Ryan, a veterinary nurse and the grooming director of Dog Grooming International and Dog Grooming Australia, demonstrated the proper way of grooming dogs, giving some tips to all participants with the use of Wahl’s latest pet grooming clippers.       

The “Dog and Cat Expo 2012” is a project of Pet Express with the support of Pedigree, Good Boy, Royal Canin, Wahl, Alpo, Friskies, Whiskas, Philippine Siberian Husky Club, and Animal Scene magazine.
