Stable connections make for stronger bonds

The Philippine Star

In a time where technology and the Internet have infiltrated the lives of almost everyone, it has become easier for us to create our own little worlds in cyberspace.

With social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and YouTube, we now have multiple avenues of expression where we can share our personal opinions, interests and information about ourselves, keeping everyone in touch with what's happening in our lives.

In a study cited in The New York Times, researchers from the University of California, San Diego found out that people spend an average of 12 hours a day consuming various media. This points out a drastic change in how people interacted with each other before the dawn of the Internet.

Aside from taking us into entirely different landscapes, the Internet also serves as an invisible bridge where we can connect to our loved ones from the other side of the globe. With the world becoming smaller, we can now share our Timeline photos, tweets, selfies and home videos to our relatives abroad and long-distance friends we wish to keep.

A fully connected cyber life can also be a source of fun at home, where we can watch funny videos with our siblings, read articles with Dad or learn about homemaking with Mom.

Whether it's a holiday or just any normal day, our stable connections with the ones we love are made stronger through reliable Internet connection that makes us closer together.

We may be busy with school, work or other personal endeavors but that doesn't have to mean we can no longer keep in touch with those who matter to us the most. We can always make our bonds with friends and family stronger and way healthier, especially when we have the strongest connections at home.
