A night for the Bossings

TAGUMPAY - Joey Concepcion -

The MVP Bossings awards night was a gala that gathered some of the country’s most prominent entrepreneurs. PLDT SME Nation successfully organized a grand event that provided an air of elegance and sophistication to the Meralco Theater, where the awarding was held for the first time.

That night, I rejoined fellow past MVP Bossings and many other entrepreneurs and personal friends of mine to welcome the new winners to the growing Bossing family.

It was good to see hundreds make it through the rush-hour traffic, even making it to the pre-awards cocktails that allowed enough time for the whole entrepreneur community to mingle and catch up with each other. There was not one dull minute in the program proper itself, not only because Paolo Bediones and Tessa Prieto-Valdes amused the audience with their hosting, but also because the night featured intermission numbers such as the dance performance that unveiled the MVP Bossing trophy created by renowned designer Kenneth Cobonpue.

I have to say that this batch of MVP Bossings gives us some of the biggest entrepreneurs in their respective industries, and that night, it seemed like the audience agreed as it broke into loud applause when the 2012 Bossings were declared one by one. And there couldn’t be a better Grand MVP Bossing for 2012 than Nanay Socorro Ramos of National Book Store. Who in this country wouldn’t know of National Book Store? It has long been the preferred store for books and office and school supplies, making it the largest chain of bookstores in the country.

The other MVP Bossings declared that night were Tennyson Chen of Bounty Fresh Food, the country’s largest broiler integrators; Justin Uy of Profood International Corporation, the largest exporter of dried fruits and juices; RJ David, owner of the country’s first and top classified ads website Sulit.com.ph; Felix Ang of Cats Motors, the first and biggest car accessory and service center; Willy Tee Ten, president of Autohub, one of the top auto service centers and auto dealers; Tommany Tan, the entrepreneur behind the leading vitamin C supplement Fern-C; Robert Trota, president of Max’s Restaurant, a well-known and well-loved local restaurant that already has branches overseas; Martin Lorenzo, the entrepreneur that grew the Pancake House Group to more than 174 outlets; Dr. Rosalinda Hortaleza for making HBC one of the leading local beauty shops; Samie Lim, the father of franchising and also the entrepreneur behind Automatic Centre and Blims Fine Furniture; and Francis Juan, first for establishing the popular hangout place, Pier One, and also for his fast growing dine-in store franchise, Chic-Boy.

It was a fun, long night for the entrepreneurs, and I’m sure it ended with a blast, especially with the Victory Ball after-party, which allowed the usually busy entrepreneurs to relax and unwind while enjoying a program and auction hosted by Arnel Ignacio, as well as a raffle that gave away items like iPads, Samsung Galaxy tabs, and a Chevrolet car.
