MANILA, Philippines — There seems to be no limit to the energy and creativity of Ayn Bernos, a former Binibining Pilipinas contestant and now creative online entrepreneur. A self-confessed raketera, she is a content creator, host podcaster, and business owner, or creative online entrepreneur.

“Social media is the main reason I get to do what I do. I us many platforms for every single endeavor and every part of my content creator life,” says she.

Bernos’ professional career in the creative industry started with internships with digital marketing agencies and magazines. She was then hired to work as a social media specialist. After years of building on those experiences, she was inspired to create her own path.

“What pushed me to take the leap outside of working for other people was creative freedom,” says Ayn.

Not really a designer, creating designs was one of Bernos’ biggest questions because back when she was a one-woman team, doing all the work was a challenge for her—until she discovered Canva through her sister.

Launched in 2013, Canva is a free online visual communications and collaboration platform with a mission to empower everyone in the world to start designing. It features a simple drag-and-drop user interface and a vast range of templates ranging from presentations, social media graphics, posters, and apparel to videos, plus a huge library of fonts, stock photography, illustrations, video footage and audio clips. With Canva, which is available on desktop, web, iOS and Android, anyone can take an idea and create something beautiful.

“Canva has made a lot of things more accessible. As somebody who is not a designer, how do you create designs? Our team had the opportunity to learn, expand and execute our best ideas,” says Bernos.

Busy as she is, attending events and shoots as well as hosting, among other things, Bernos has made planning an integral part of her day-to-day life. She has also made collaboration and execution of ideas with her team top priority in order to put her content together and accomplish her responsibilities.

Whenever ideas pop up, Bernos prefers to put them down the traditional way, which is to write them down on pen and paper to create her skeletal structure. Then she transfers them to her computer to make it easier for her to show and present to the team.

“I don’t have a 9 to 5 working schedule, as I have to be in a lot of places. I’m often on the go, and when this is the case, I simply look at the team’s progress in Canva and I see that my team is getting it together,” explains Bernos, on how collaboration between her and Canva works.

Regarding her proudest moments, Bernos would always say that it was the opportunity to create a community for Filipinos to embrace who they are and their own beauty, and this happened when she was creating educational content.

“I always say something about education, which is ‘work in progress’. My philosophy not just as a content creator, but also as an educator, a student, as well i, you’re always supposed to be learning and there is no shame in that,” explains Bernos on what she wants to do in the future.

“I am not only here because I empower other people but I have been empowered myself. My job as someone in this industry is to always keep the doors open because somebody opened them for me,” she concludes.
