Annabelle Huggins in God Knows

Two pictures based on the sensational rape case of Annabelle Huggins were produced by Larry Santiago, the second of which was God Knows (Batid ng Diyos), shown in 1962. Both films were topbilled by Annabelle herself.

The American mestiza won public sympathy when she accused Ruben Ablaza of rape, for which he was convicted and jailed.

Some years back, Carlo J. Caparas directed The Annabelle Huggins Story, with Dawn Zulueta in the title role and Cesar Montano as Ablaza.   —RKC
