Don Pastor shines in US; Enzo vies in Macau
MANILA, Philippines - Philippine pride Don Thomas Pastor won the Global Time Attack recently in Button willow, California in a BMW M3 680 hp prepared by Renner Motorsport of Ingelwood, California.
Pastor, the Philippine Driver of he Year in 2010 in the PNTCC Championship before The left the same year to continue his career in the US, garnered a double win in the overall race with a second and first place finish in his class.
As his prize, he will travel to Macau to watch his older brother Ferdinand “Enzo” compete in the prestigious Macau Grand Prix set Nov. 15-18.
Enzo, suiting up for his new team Coca-Cola-Bench 25 years-Team TEC Pilipinas, will vie for honors in the CTM Macau Touring Cup where 35 champions from six nations from the Hong Kong, Macau and F. O. S. Touring Car Championships were chosen from among 150 riders.
Pastor is the only Filipino rider chosen after rigorous screening and qualifying races where only the best from all over Asia were selected to compete in the Macau GP.
The event, which will be limited to S2000 cars, features BMW, Toyota and Honda racing cars.
The event also coincides with the 50th anniversary celebration of the country’s first win in Macau – by the late Dodgie Laurel in 1962 in a Lotus Formula race car.
The event is a 12-lap race at 6.2 kilometers per lap, with practice rounds set Nov. 15, the qualifying round on May 16 and the 12-lap final on May 17.
