MANILA, Philippines — Manila Water has completed the installation of  submarine transmission lines for the East Bay Phase 2 project, enhancing its capability to convey additional water across the East Bay area, improving system reliability and operational flexibility to help ensure continuous water service amid the challenges posed by the strong El Niño.

The completed submarine transmission system spans approximately 31.5 kilometers underwater and is designed to convey treated water from the East Bay Water Treatment Plant Phase 2 in Pakil, Laguna, toward Taguig.

The project represents an investment of about P5.7 billion.

“The submarine transmission lines are a vital component of the East Bay Phase 2 project, serving as the critical link that will enable treated water from Laguna Lake to reach communities across our service area. Their completion brings us closer to realizing additional water supply that will help strengthen long-term water security for our customers, particularly as the country prepares for the potential impacts of a strong El Niño event in 2027,” Manila Water corporate communications head Dittie Galang said.
