MANILA, Philippines – The authorities on Sunday afternoon arrested a policeman who went amok and fired shots inside the Manila Police District headquarters on United Nations Avenue.

PO1 Vincent Paul Bulacan Solares, whose station assignment has yet to be determined, reportedly fired his gun at the second floor of the MPD headquarters past 3:00 p.m. This resulted in a 15-minute lockdown, radio reports said.

He was arrested around 3:30 p.m.

Solares reportedly made a scene while running amok and tried to shoot his fellow police officers. Radio reports said several water plastic bottles were also thrown down the stairs from the second floor while police from the homicide division and SWAT unit were entering the premises to stop the commotion.

The investigators said there were no casualties the police officers who arrested Solares. They added that they initially got an alert that a uniformed man was “running wild” at Puregold Tayuman branch and are currently verifying if that man was Solares.

Solares is currently in handcuffs and in police custody.
