MANILA, Philippines - We don’t need a new season to remind us how much we love wearing jeans, but given the whole new range of denim styles on the spring-summer runways, it’s time to experiment more on this wardrobe essential. From ‘70s flares to the bold acid wash, YStyle sized up this summer’s new denim styles and how to wear them.

Ivy league

Denim revamps prep on the spring-summer runway with blazers, dresses and buttoned-up polos. Lee channeled old school with bow ties, bowler hats and tea shades while Penshoppe spiced up the look with pops of bright colors. Try this look with one main denim piece — like a blazer or a dress — or go all out in a denim-on-denim ensemble.

Flare up

Though skinnies and jeggings are still this season’s main staple, just like last year flared jeans made their way into spring-summer runways in bold ‘70s style. The flare balances out the hips and is perfect for curvy shapes. Wear it with a tucked-in shirt, belt and sunglasses for a clean look.

Bleached out

Bleached jeans, or acid wash denim, have been subtly tiptoeing into runways for the past couple of years, but this season brands went bold. Lee set off its show with head-to-toe acid denim, Penshoppe paired it with bright spring colors and Oxygen styled it with earth tones. Denim-on-denim is one of summer season’s hottest looks, so don’t be afraid to mix different washes in one outfit.

Hippie nation

Penshoppe’s colorful runway included gradient wash and dip-dye denim in spring colors. The vintage-inspired style is a throwback to the ’70s, though this incarnation pays homage to the ‘80s with its bold hues and chunky accessories.
