Earth to the fashionista
Don’t call her a hippie. She won’t take offense but she probably won’t think it too appropriate either. She’s that new breed of bohemian: free-spirited more than free spirit, conscientious more than come-what-may, naturalist more than nudist. Her ideals are rooted in saving the environment and animal love but she still knows her fashion and her designers. Stella McCartney, the British designer known for her active support for PETA and longtime use of leather alternatives is a favorite. She does her yoga, eats organic food and uses shampoo that wasn’t tested on helpless little bunnies — or any other animal, for that matter. Which means, she frequents beauty hubs like The Natural Source, which markets skincare that are “free from animal testing, nasty preservatives and excessive ecologically-damaging packaging” and makeup that is “free from carcinogenic toluene and formaldehyde, bovine ingredients, as well as a host of harmful and unsafe ingredients.”
And yeah, she’s most likely vegetarian. She may be a bit of a pain in the ass but she won’t preach; she’ll just use her style to make a statement. Here, a few gift ideas for the no-nonsense bohemian treehuggers in your phone book.
