MANILA, Philippines - It was the perfect way to close out 2013. For modern footwear line Native Shoes, co-presenting an equally futuristic band such as Metric in Manila with Pulp Live World made all the sense in the world. Its loyal fans thought the very same, as they wore both the low and high cut Natives to the gig last Dec. 5 in SM Aura’s Samsung Hall.

Founded in Vancouver in 2009, Native Shoes has always drawn inspiration from the classic, casual silhouettes, then combined it with the lightest and most comfortable material available. Everything revolved around the lightweight foam-injection molded-EVA technology its footwear introduced. The result of this innovation was not only a reliable range of shoes that are as easy to slip on as it is to take them off because it molds to one’s feet, but a pair of shoes that was just cool and easy to match with most outfits anywhere, any time. Natives are also easy to wash and features anti-microbial and odor-resistant properties, making them last when you head out there in jungles both urban and rural.

About four years after, Native Shoes has grown not just in size but in philosophy, enlightening people to realize that despite the heaviness life can bring, there’s always a lightness you can depend on, a pair of shoes that’ll keep you walking the talk and pressing on through life. “Keep it lite,” as Native Shoes would envision.

This Jan. 19, Native Shoes is back to the grind once again, as they co-sponsor the “Sinulog Invasion” for an early segue to summer. With the raging success of “Metric Live in Manila,” one can only wonder just how much of a boom “Sinulog” can be with Native at the helm.
