I Silk-Screened This Tee year 3: The artwork tee party experience

Thysz Estrada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Artwork, one of the country’s most loved T-shirt brands, once again feted the art of silk-screening with the third successful staging of I Silk-Screened This Tee last May 18 at the TriNoma Cinema Lobby.

T-shirt fans of all ages got down and dirty as they tried their hand at the tricky but ultimately rewarding process of silk-screening. Lugging around their event kits (which included a plain white shirt and were available onsite for P299 a pack) and navigating the snake-like lines of the numerous printing areas, would-be artists let their imaginations run amok with their creations, used a myriad of colors and chose from a dizzying array of silk-screen designs made especially for the event. Keepsake snaps were then taken at the nearby photo booth while Moonleaf Tea Shop provided much-needed refreshments with their wildly popular wintermelon and hakka milk teas.

People also congregated at the far end of the silk-screening area where they found a little wooden shack full to the roof with curiosities like colorful patchwork tote bags, canvas wallets, postcards, notebooks, button pins and much more. This wee-sized artist’s house hosted the debut of Artwork’s new line of upcycled and eco-friendly products, dubbed Cream of the Scrap, which are made from scraps of previous collections and will be available in all Artwork branches soon.

Terno Recordings artists Maude, Pulso and Up Dharma Down then headlined a mini-concert in celebration of their just-released T-shirt design collaboration with Artwork. Fans were in a mad rush to be the first to own these limited-edition shirts as hits from the three bands contributed to the beautiful cacophony of the TriNoma Cinema Lobby.

The event lasted until the mall’s closing hours and left guests exhilarated and thrilled at having silk-screened their own T-shirts, most of them for the first time and proving that it is indeed one of the best ways to express your creativity.
