Shangri-La's Mactan brings back adventure for teens

-

MANILA, Philippines - With the success of Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu’s iCAMP in April last year, the resort is bringing back the ultimate adventure for teens.

On April 15-17, three days and two nights of memorable fun and learning await teens between the ages of 13 and 16. iCAMP guarantees participants a fun and unforgettable experience while they learn value-based skills on leadership, friendship, teamwork and camaraderie.

On the first day, iCAMP opens with a series of games and adventure challenges that will teach the iCAMPers basic techniques in tent building, fire making, rope technique, compass reading and first aid.

The opening day ends with a fellowship ceremony complete with bonfire and fire zipping lessons.

Day 2 will be brimming with activities for the iCAMPers. Aside from wall climbing, rappelling, rope course challenges, a Tyrolean traverse and a treasure hunt, iCAMPers will also put the skills they learned on the first day to the test in a race-style workshop.

As the sun sets, iCAMPers will enjoy the beauty of the Mactan Channel as they learn about sailing followed by an actual sunset cruise on board the M/S Vianelle. Dinner will be a more casual event followed by a karaoke talent showcase.

The third day opens with marine life lessons by the resort’s resident marine biologist. After the lecture, refreshing water sports activities and games including snorkeling and kayaking will take place.

To close the camp formally, the resort’s executive committee will lead an awarding ceremony.

The iCAMP 2010 package is available for P19,700++ per person and includes two-night accommodation in a superior gardenview room, full board meals with morning and afternoon snacks, daily activities and an iCAMP kit.

The rate is based on twin-sharing accommodation. For participants who opt not to lodge at Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu, an iCAMP live-out package is available for P14,200++ per person.

“iCAMP is an important achievement for us because beyond the success of the program’s technical and formal learning aspect, friendships are built and personal transformations take place in the participants,” said Joachim Schutte, Shangri-La’s Mactan Resort and Spa, Cebu’s general manager.

“In the personal testimonies of our pioneering batch of iCAMPers, the teens wrote about how nature conservation now mattered to them and how they felt they have accomplished a lot with the quality and number of skills they learned in iCAMP,” added Schutte.
