The (dining) perks of having BDO MasterCard Elite Credit Card

OOH LA LAI - Lai S. Reyes - The Philippine Star

Nothing whets the appetite more than the sight and aroma of a freshly baked pizza, roasted prime rib, pasta with truffle oil and the creamy lamb curry as showcased on restaurant buffet counters.

At Mandarin Oriental, Manila’s Paseo Uno, there’s always something delicious being served at every hour of the day -- from the buffet spread to the a la carte dinner. Everything diners see on the various cooking stations are always served fresh and in small batches.

“Paseo Uno may not be the biggest buffet restaurant in the country and doesn’t boast the most number of dishes, but we do take pride in the quality of the dishes and services we offer,” enthuses Peter Pysk, director of Food and Beverage, Mandarin Oriental, Manila.

It is lunchtime in Makati and guests are filling into the restaurant to sample Paseo Uno’s gustatory delights. Unlike other buffet spreads that put everything on view for two to three hours, the restaurant chooses quality over quantity.

“It’s all about serving a particular dish at its right temperature and in small portions to ensure its freshness,” notes Pysk.

Diners aren’t worried that the food would be wiped out right away because they can see the chefs constantly wielding their magic ladles in the open-kitchen.

“Needless to say, the chafing dishes are replenished right away,” the amiable F&B director adds.

Designed by Tokyo-based Design Studio Spin, Paseo Uno fuses modern elements with touches of colonial history in interesting details such as the Spanish glass walls, Japanese paper, and the capiz shells. Its unique interior features indoor and outdoor ponds, glass-encased rivulets of water, and the modern and state-of-the-art open kitchens.

“Also, one of Paseo Uno’s unique selling points is its small seating capacity. No matter where you sit in the restaurant, you will not be surrounded by over a hundred people. You don’t get bumped by diners on a race to the buffet counters so you get to enjoy your meal more. We provide diners with a private, intimate, and an elegant dining experience,” explains Pysk.

No wonder Paseo Uno is the preferred dining destination not only of business executives, foodie families, couples on a date, even the discriminating BDO MasterCard Elite Credit Cardholders.

Tempting treats from BDO

To thank its loyal clients for their continued patronage, BDO Credit Cards has partnered with Mandarin Oriental, Manila to give its Cardholders outstanding dining perks that are just too tempting to resist especially during the holiday season.

From Nov. 8 to Dec. 30, 2013, BDO Titanium and Platinum MasterCard Credit Cardholders get to enjoy 50 percent off on lunch (valid daily) and dinner buffet (valid Sunday to Thursday) at Paseo Uno. The discount is applicable to a maximum food bill of P20,000 or equivalent discount of P10,000. Beverages and a la carte orders are not included.

The program aims to provide exclusive and the best-in-class rewards for BDO MasterCard Elite Credit Cardholders. For BDO, choosing Mandarin Oriental, Manila’s Paseo Uno as  one of its partners is a given because its Cardholders love to dine there as evident in their spending habits. Yes, BDO Credit Cards listen to its clients. And this program is just one of the many ways to show BDO Credit Cardholders that their support is greatly appreciated.

“With our BDO MasterCard Elite Credit Cardholders in mind, we bring forth only the finest local and international shopping, dining and travel offers tailor fit to their discerning lifestyle,” says Ma. Nannette R. Regala, BDO senior vice president and Consumer Lending marketing head.

“And by partnering with Mandarin Oriental, Manila, we are able to provide elite dining privileges to satisfy their exquisite taste at 50 percent savings, a superb treat especially this holiday season. That’s superior class and satisfaction, only with your BDO Titanium and Platinum MasterCard,” Regala adds.

What makes this dining promotion unique is that the other BDO MasterCard Credit Cards -- the BDO MasterCard Standard, ShopMore MasterCard, Bench MasterCard, Forever 21 MasterCard, and Gold MasterCard -- Cardholders aren’t left out as they, too, can avail of 35 percent discount at Paseo Uno.

“This is actually the second promotion that we’ve done with BDO Credit Cards. Earlier this year, we had a very successful collaboration with them also with Paseo Uno. So we’re very excited to have this promotion just in time for the holidays. We know that this is the time that our balikbayan friends and relatives are coming home and what better way to welcome them than with Paseo Uno’s sumptuous spread,” says Isabel Cang, pr and marketing communications assistant manager, Mandarin Oriental, Manila.

The perks at Mandarin Oriental, Manila also extends to other dining outlets.

“BDO MasterCard Credit Cardholders can also enjoy 20 percent discount on food bill at Tin Hau, and 20 percent off on The Tivoli’s Business Lunch and Degustation Menu,” explains Pysk.

The Perks of being elite

BDO MasterCard Elite -- the BDO Titanium and Platinum MasterCard -- Credit Cards are made specifically for certain clients who have very distinct needs. They’re relatively young (in their 30s or 40s) and successful in their chosen fields. Aside from dining out, they also travel frequently both for business and leisure. And because they’re seasoned travelers, they are looking for convenience when they pack their bags and board their next flight.

BDO MasterCard Elite offers a comprehensive travel insurance package up to P20 Million which provides travel accident insurance, medical expense reimbursement and delayed flight privileges, to name a few.  Cardholders are also entitled to a complimentary Priority Pass membership, which gives access to over 500 airport lounges in over 300 cities and 75 countries.  Likewise, it has a rewards program where for every P40 you spend, you earn one credit card point. And you can use your points to redeem premium items such as gift certificates, travel accessories, and travel packages from the BDO Credit Card Points Redemption catalog.

Allowing for spending flexibility while traveling abroad, BDO MasterCard Elite Credit Cardholders also have the option to be billed either in Philippine Peso or US Dollar.  What’s more, as a special treat, BDO Elite MasterCard Cardholders can avail of travel rebates, premium luggage and free overnight accommodation at BDO partner hotels by simply reaching a set spend amount of purchases made overseas with the BDO Crossborder Treats promo.

Well, it goes without saying that BDO MasterCard Elite Credit Cards make dining out, traveling and shopping a breeze as it gives you the security and convenience of not bringing cash wherever you go. Of course, it also helps when you have a credit card that’s accepted worldwide like a BDO MasterCard.

The long-standing partnership between BDO Credit Cards and MasterCard plays a key role in catering to the needs of each and every BDO Credit Cardholder, most especially the elite set.

“MasterCard works with BDO to provide our valued BDO Platinum and Titanium MasterCard Cardholders the most premium and exclusive privileges,” reiterates Ailea O. Zialcita, MasterCard Philippines vice president.
