Prostate health check for Father's Day
MANILA, Philippines - Healthway Clinic and pharmaceutical company GlaxoSmithKline (GSK) have joined hands to promote prostate health in Filipino men. From June 26 to July 2, Healthway will be offering 30 percent discount on Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Tests conducted in all its branches. GSK will also be providing 500 men with coupons for a FREE PSA Test they can get from their urologists. These coupons can be redeemed at Healthway and Sta. Lucia Health Care Centre in Metro Manila.
Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) Test is a simple blood test to measure the level of PSA – a protein produced by the prostate. The prostate is a walnut-sized reproductive organ of males located near the urinary bladder. When there’s a problem in the prostate, more PSA is released and reaches a level where it can be easily detected in the blood. The PSA test is useful in assessing risk of Prostate Cancer (PCa) among men.
Prostate Cancer usually develops in men aged 50 and above with family history of this condition and those with elevated PSA levels. PCa symptoms include experiencing a frequent need to urinate, especially at night; difficulty starting urination or holding back urine; weak or interrupted flow of urine; blood in urine or semen; and frequent pain or stiffness in the lower back, hips, or upper thighs.
