What’s your favorite pastime?

WORDSWORTH - Mons Romulo -
We all need a break from our daily routines and work. It’s funny how some activities are stressful to others (like shopping for a lot of men) and very enjoyable to the rest (at least to a lot of women I know). The fun in indulging in our pastimes is when we do it with the people we love.

United States Charge d’Affaires Joseph Mussomeli:
My pastime? I can’t answer because I might get arrested! I don’t think I have any pastime; most of my free time I enjoy just being with my wife and children.

Alex Lichaytoo, businessman:
My favorite pastime is doing anything outdoors, whether it’s golf, archery, scuba diving or shooting clays. It’s always nice to go back to nature whenever possible, and enjoying it with the people you love makes it even more special.

Lupita Kashiwahara, director:
Knitting! Productive use of time in a car, plane or train while waiting for appointments. A precious gift to give as well when time, creativity and energy complete the project.

Jia Santos Estrella, Rustan’s fashion division assistant vice president:
Playing with my two daughters – Janina, 4, and Juliana, 2 – together with my husband Gabby.

Georgina Wilson, commercial model:
My favorite pastime is looking at fashion websites on the Internet and checking out all the celebrity pictures to see how they put together all the new, interesting trends. I also love, like any girl, shopping! My pastimes may seem a little ditsy, but they balance off all the academic work I have to do for school!

Barbie Almalbis, singer, Barbie’s Cradle:
Reading a good book, eating cereal or pandesal, writing songs, walking around.

Gina Dela Vega-Cruz, Berkley International and Family First Inc. corporate communications director and Serbis on The Go! TV host:
As a mother trying to balance family life with eight-hour corporate work, a broadcasting job, and French language lessons on the side, any little extra time that I have left I try to devote to bonding with my family, particularly my children, aged 2-1/2 to 10 years old. Playing with my kids, talking to them, swimming with them or simply putting them on my lap to embrace, kiss and smell them is how I enjoyably spend my pastime. I believe many mothers like me who face hectic schedules daily use a huge chunk of their free time to be with their children. Not only do these bonding moments register big in the minds of our little ones and therefore provide a perfect chance for us to influence the way they grow up even when we are not often by their sides, they also serve to recharge and energize us for the many challenges we face outside the home. Now, when the kids are asleep or are with their playmates, that is when I read books, a favorite pastime since my childhood that I have carried through the years, to enrich my mind and broaden my perspective on life.

Former Senator Tito Sotto:
Favorite pastime is reading books. Aside from it being cerebrally stimulating, it is at times a good form of escape from reality.

Teddy Corpuz, singer, Rocksteddy:
Book and tea over my fave music (Joni Mitchell, Chet Baker, Louis Armstrong, Red House Painters and Deathcab for Cutie).
