Get on the bohemian trail

MANILA, Philippines - Capture the mood of the adventurous bohemian life with British India. Equal parts preppy and safari, these pieces can easily take you from your summer sojourn back to the city.

British India’s summer collection has an exotic feel, with embellished caftans cut to city-appropriate proportions. Teal and purple embellishments lend a Moroccan flair, while a higher hemline makes it easier to pair with khaki pants for a stroll on the town.

Swap the pants for a bikini bottom and you’re ready to hit the beach. Play with sheer and opaque with a longsleeved gypsy blouse.

Paired with quintessential capris, the look   can also be easily taken to the shore or the street. For a truly Bedouin take, try a printed gypsy skirt in an abstract pattern. A sea-foam green pleated version with an embroidered waistband is also perfect with an off-shoulder peasant blouse.

For the men, drawstring khakis are the epitome of high summer. Throw them on over swim trunks while cruising along the beach, or pair with a long-sleeved safari shirt after taking a dip.

For dressier occasions, try teaming a washed-out teal button-down with a lemon-yellow tie. The muted pastels pop against white pants, also a summer staple at British India, along with light pants in solid colors like black, dark brown, rust and fawn.

Basic tees and shortsleeved polos come in sunset colors, while preppy staples like plaid turn summerready in purple hues.

British India stores are located at Robinsons Midtown Ermita, Alabang Town Center and Glorietta 3.
