Hear ye, here's Dorothy Perkins calling

-

MANILA, Philippines - The style-savvy set got together and came face to face with up-to-the-minute fashion trends during the unveiling of top British classic brand Dorothy Perkins’ flagship store at the second level of the Powerplant Mall recently.

Flying from London to grace the event were Phil Likeman (regional business controller for Asia), Anita Lyons (regional business manager for Southeast Asia) and Kellie Lee-Clarke (international visual merchandising manager) of UK’s top fashion retailer Arcadia Group.

They were joined by Robinsons Retail Stores’s Robina Gokongwei-Pe (group general manager), Carmina Quizon (general manager, Robinsons Specialty Stores, Inc.), Bim Sebastian (AVP, business development), Power Plant Mall’s Malou Pineda (general manager), British Embassy’s Derek Page (trade & investment director).

Dorothy Perkins’ tasteful take on functional, woman-friendly fashion was a hit among the fashionable urbanites at the launch. This 275 sq.m. branch is home to rack upon rack of stylish clothes that are high in the style and femininity which have   made Dorothy Perkins one of the biggest fashion retailers in the UK. The new store also boasts of being the only Dorothy Perkins branch in the country to have a Shoe Lounge, featuring a t-bar, platform and high-heeled shoes.

Guests had a grand time shopping during the opening’s Ladies’ Night that offered a 20 percent discount on all merchandise. Lucky guests went home with special prizes such as Canon Ixus 100 IS digital cameras,   L’Oreal Dermo-Expertise gift packs, pairs of coveted Dorothy Perkins shoes and P5,000 Dorothy Perkins shopping sprees. Vivacious Sam Oh hosted the event.

The store’s impressive fashion content is evident in the new collection inspired by the ’80s with a modern edge and pieces for power dressing for women whose sizes range from petite, to 6, to 20. There are accessories such as statement heels, oversized clutches, purses in vibrant colors and designs, ankle boots, multi-stranded belts, purple/pink mock-croc patent handbag, slouchy bags and chunky biker boots.

Included in the unveiling is an anthology of Dorothy Perkins’ own rendering of two autumn-winter trends:

London calling: This street-inspired look merges the ’80s shapes with ’90s styling. Stripes and iconic graphics, acid washing and color blocking describe this collection done in black white, cobalt blue, chartreuse and purple. Key pieces include the boyfriend blazer, jegging, studded waisted dress, denim shirt dress, indigo marble wash skinny jeans, studded tulip skirt, popperside tunic in abstract print, graphic scratchy print slouchy tee, embellished batwing tee and metallic embellishment.

Breakfast Club: Still inclined towards the ’80s vibe, the Breakfast Club Trend highlights color and print blocking, slouchy shapes and power shifts as well as graphic and art deco details done in shades of cobalt blue, black, white and jade. There are color blocked shift dresses, boyfriend blazer, tregging, art deco graphic print tunic and color block mini skirt. Then finish the look with blue plastic chain satchel shoulder bag, skinny vintage clasp belts, metal hinge detail belts and platform shoe boots.

The launching of Dorothy Perkins’ Power Plant Mall flagship store was made possible by L’Oreal Dermo-Expertise, L’Oreal Elseve, Ralph Lauren Romance Always Yours, Canon – Delighting You Always, Mega magazine, Merry’s Irish Cream, Terra Vega and 2nd Avenue.

Dorothy Perkins stores are located at   Power Plant Mall, Robinsons Galleria, Robinsons Ermita, Glorietta 3, SM Mall of Asia and The Podium
