Boracay beckons

OH YES, IT'S JOHNNY! - Johnny Litton -
"During the whole trip to our summer vacation, the kids kept asking, ‘Are we there yet?’ Once we arrived, they kept asking, ‘When can we go home’?"– Gene Perret

Searching for a place where the air is clean, the waters pristine and the atmosphere oh-so-relaxing? Search no more in Boracay, where delightful surprises await visitors who yearn for the good life without stress, pollution and rigid dress codes. Tread on Boracay’s powdery white sands or swim in its clear blue waters as the summer breeze cools you.

Even as you enjoy nature’s splendor, pamper yourself with modern amenities in the Boracay Regency Beach Resort, the only AAA-rated establishment in the island.

The Boracay Regency is a Mediterranean-inspired resort offering five-star amenities and services at very reasonable prices. Regency president Henry Chusuey assures guests of treats awaiting them at the hotel. Aside from easy access to the immaculate white beach, the resort has 85 well-appointed rooms with lanais, swimming pool and a first-class gym. Succulent meats, the freshest ingredients and rich desserts celebrating cuisine the world over can be sampled at the Regency’s four restaurants. The first underground beach disco bar in the island, Wave, pulsates with energy with dance music.

You can also try one of the world’s finest tropical resorts, the Fairways and Bluewater Resort Golf and Country Club, aptly named the "Golfing Jewel of the Pacific." Its world-class golf course designed by champion golfer and master designer Graham Marsh blends the pleasure of golf with the natural tropical landscape. This was the site of the 1997 Johnny Walker Super Tour which featured the world’s best golfers including Ernie Els; Nick Faldo; Jesper Parnevik; and Ian Woosnam, among others. General manager Geb Bilbao and chairman Noel "Toti" Cariño says the luxury resort villas are truly lavish. They are fully-furnished with the best kitchen, dining and living facilities. There is a clubhouse perfect for meals, set in the middle of spectacular greens, magnificent hills and private and secluded beaches.

Another beach-front hotel in the island is Le Soleil de Boracay which has a variety of rooms fit for every lifestyle, and apartments for longer stays at the scenic island. The hotel also has a restaurant serving French-Mediterranean cuisine, a poolside bar and multi-purpose hall. It is a short walk from nightspots and the Boracay Mall. Keeping in step with new developments, Le Soleil resident manager Peejay Reyes said they recently opened a new wing and a freshwater swimming pool.

Rare green lobsters and authentic German cuisine and delicacies are a staple at Gasthof Café and Deli, one of the island’s top restos serving European cuisine. Restaurant owner Bot Gersbach and her staff serve delectable cheeses, scrumptious sausages and freshly harvested seafood cooked right in front of guests by the beach.

The Boracay Terraces Resort, where guests are assured of privacy because of its location, have the whitest sands and the widest beach front where children can go hunting for crabs. President Steve Tajanlangit organizes Boracay’s longest food buffet yearly for the Cebu Pacific 7107 Golf Tournament.

For me, Boracay is indeed a tropical paradise with a million treats to offer. This summer, I will fly off again to my summer haven to enjoy the sun, sand and the sea.

Go to Boracay and live the blissful island life!
