MANILA, Philippines — The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. held a media send-off for reigning Binibining Pilipinas Globe Sasha Juli-Belle Lacuna prior to her departure for the international finals in Thailand.

The send-off was held in one the cinemas in Araneta City where fellow beauty queens Binibining Pilipinas International Gwendolyn Soriano, Binibining Pilipinas 2026 1st runner-up Julianne Rainne Antonio, and Binibining Pilipinas 2026 2nd runner-up Tracy Mae Sunio all showed their support.

"Sashi is one of the most courageous women I have known. She is driven but composed and calm. She makes people feel loved. Shine your light, Sashi! Enjoy your journey," shared Soriano, in her message.

The Philippines has won the Globe crown twice before — first with Ann Colis in 2015 and then in 2021 with Maureen Montagne.

While Maricar Balagtas and Toni Alyssa Hipolito also won a Miss Globe crown in 2001 and 2016 respectivaly, it was with an organization under a different owner from the Deliart Association based in Tiranë, Albania.

"It's helpful that the Miss Globe is three months after the national pageant. So I feel like I'm still in pageant mode, and my training has not stopped," enthused Lacuna. "There are a lot of changes with the Miss Globe, especially in its change of pageant venue."

Since 2004, only two editions have been held outside of Albania — 2019 in Montenegro won by Mexico's Alejandra Díaz de León and when Colis the pageant held in Canada.

"I've seen how dedicated you are all the time. I remember you were always scribbling something in your notebook during our Sunday training with the Aces & Queens camp. You deserve it all," said Antonio, with Sunio adding, "You have an army to help and support you."

Asked why she should be the next Miss Globe winner, Lacuna answered, "I have a global perspective and easily connect with people from various backgrounds. Every woman is capable of global connection."

The 2026 Miss Globe coronation night will unfold this November 5 on the island of Phuket. Stay tuned!
