ASEAN spouses to get taste of Davao sweets

DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Spouses of the leaders attending the ASEAN Summit in Manila next week will get a sweet treat from President Duterte’s home city.

Duterte’s partner Cielito “Honeylet” Avanceña will give boxes of world-renowned chocolate produced in this city’s Malagos district as her personal token to the spouses of the leaders.

Avanceña personally chose the chocolates, a product from beans carefully graded, fermented and solar-dried at the Malagos Farms in Davao City. 

“These are the same chocolates that have been winning in international competitions in Paris, France or in London and other places,” said Rex Victor Puentespina, sales and marketing head of Malagos Agri-Ventures Corp.

Puentespina told The STAR that the order of 12 boxes of Malagos Chocolate was coursed through the  Presidential Social Secretary Office.

The special order was delivered to the office in time for the ASEAN Summit next week. 

He also said the chocolates placed in special packages include sweetened dark chocolate bars and unsweetened chocolate tablets. Handcrafted cups were also included. 

Avanceña will host several activities for the ASEAN leaders’ spouses during the summit.
