Stories behind the information disorder

Evidence first.
Conclusions second.

Our investigations combine open-source research, manual data collection, source work and fact-checking. Each report states what the evidence establishes, what it does not, and how much of it we examined. We also share our dataset when possible.

01

Collect and preserve

We archive public posts, accounts, media and timestamps before they change or are deleted.

02

Count before we characterize

Every finding rests on a stated number of posts and accounts, over a defined period, on named platforms.

03

Test coordination and inauthenticity

We treat similar wording or suspicious timing as leads and do not assign motive on content alone. We examine overall behavior and test other signals.

04

State the limits

We plainly state in our reports what our evidence establishes and what it does not, while ensuring readers know when an activity has a potential alignment with a foreign government's messaging.
