MANILA, Philippines — Iñigo Pascual stood up for Julia Barretto, who has been hounded by various controversies .

On Sunday, Iñigo posted on his Instagram account an “appreciation” message for Julia. Here he said how the Kapamilya actress remains “strong” despite issues she has been encountering.

“I guess I just felt the need to do that,” he replied when asked what led him to write the post, in an interview on Tuesday.

“I just felt the need to do that because she can’t do that, she can’t say, ‘Stop, guys.’ So I just had to step up and just show that this girl is real and hindi totoo ang sinasabi ng mga tao.”

He added that even though they know people don't always mean what they say, Iñigo said they still get “affected” by their comments.

“We don’t show na deep inside we’re hurt because we’re humans and every time we get bad comments about us siyempre masasaktan kami,” he said.

He believes that Julia is just often "misinterpreted" by the public, when in reality, "Julia is real. Julia is one of the kindest people."

Aside from her fallout with father Dennis Padilla, another hearsay Julia faces is her alleged links with “On the Wings of Love” lead star James Reid.

The two are being romantically associated, although James’s best friend, Bret Jackson, has already denied the brewing romance between the two Kapamilya stars.

Asked if he thinks the issue can affect their team up, Iñigo replied, “In this job naman I don’t think you should let any personal stuff affect it. To be honest, I don’t know anything going on about her personal life and vice versa, so it’s not my business to talk if there’s anything going on.”

“So we just work kung ano man ang ibigay sa amin, and we have that friendship. Basta we work together and we know what we want,” he concluded.

Julia and Iñigo stars in the upcoming Dreamscape productions TV series “And I Love You So” which also stars Miles Ocampo, Angel Aquino, Dimples Romana and Tonton Gutierrez. It’ll start airing on December 7 in the Kapamilya afternoon block of ABS-CBN.
