Helen Gamboa opposite Dolphy

Dancing-singing queen appeared opposite comic king in two movies in the ’60s.

First was The Graduation, under Dolphy’s RVQ Productions, also starring sidekick Panchito and Rod Navarro. Featured are the sons and daughters of ‘your favorite film personalities.’

The other was O Kaka O Kaka, produced by Lea Productions, again with Panchito as sidekick.

Later in her career, Helen Gamboa became an award-winning actress. Her drama films included Lino Brocka’s Kailan Mahuhugasan ang Kasalanan, Maning Borlaza’s Araw-Araw, Gabi-Gabi, the other version of Flor Contemplacion by Tikoy Aguiluz. — RKC
