Happily ever after in San Diego, Calif.

FUNFARE - Ricky Lo - The Philippine Star

Have you seen that widely-viewed sex video (gone viral in the Internet) “starring” somebody who looks intriguingly like Patricia Javier (a.k.a. Genesis or G-Love) with a very old man who hardly looks like her very macho husband, chiropractor (Dr.) Robert Douglas Walcher III?

“That’s one thing that I want to correct while I’m here,” Patricia said over lunch with Jojo Gabinete and me over the weekend at Romulo’s Café (Scout Lazcano corner Scout Tuazon, Quezon City). “They called it ‘Patricia Javier Scandal.’ My husband is annoyed by it. We’re worried that it might ruin his reputation. Respected doctor pa naman siya.”

The sex video has been circulating for quite awhile before Patricia got wind of it. In full shot, the woman does look like Patricia but in extreme close-up when the woman is at the height of ecstasy, it’s clear that she’s somebody else.

“Still,” added Patricia, “what about those who haven’t actually seen it and only heard about it? They might make the wrong conclusion.”

Some people have also used her picture with fictitious names on Facebook and Patricia found out when she was in San Francisco.

“A man approached me and asked if I got the money he was sending me at siempre nagulat ako,” said Patricia. “It turned out that other men have also been sending money through those fake Facebook accounts. Mabuti na lang na-correct ko na.”

Blessed with two beautiful sons, Ryan James (turning seven years old) and Robert Douglas IV, Patricia and Rob are celebrating their eighth wedding anniversary this month. They are living a relatively quiet and comfortable life in San Diego, California, where Rob owns and manages his own clinic while Patricia works part-time thrice a week as a (certified) aesthetician at a beauty clinic owned and managed by Dr. Tess Mauricio, her good friend.

“I owe Dr. Tess my looks,” smiled Patricia who is into her late 30s but looks not a day older than she did in her last starrer, Viva Films’ Gusto Ko Nang Lumigaya (with Pops Fernandez). Her other popular film was Ang Kabit ni Mrs. Montero. “Like Rob who is a health buff, I take good care of my body.”

Patricia was discovered in that Sprite TV commercial where she gets stuck in an elevator, and slaps the guy (Ryan Agoncillo) with her when he gives her a lusty look and asks, “Are you in heat?” She was then a semi-finalist in the Bb. Pilipinas pageant. She appeared in several movies until she gave up showbiz in favor of love and settled down in the US.

“No regrets,” said Patricia who is here (until Sunday, Dec. 15) on vacation with son RG. “I have a good husband and beautiful children. I can’t ask for anything more.”

But showbiz is still very much a part of her life. She performs in shows using the name Genesis and was a member of the short-lived all-female band Asian Pussycats, and, on a lurk, competed in a beauty contest and brought home a Miss USA Philippines crown. She gets hired for shows of visiting Filipino artists (Rico J. Puno, etc.) and also moonlights as a deejay-singer who kicks off her act by playing music before she sings.

“When I perform in Filipino communities, I still use Patricia Javier,” she said, adding amused, “pero sa mga puti, I use G-Love, short for Genesis. The one who manages me finds Genesis a bit long so he asked me to just use G-Love kasi mas madali daw matandaan. I’ve been working as a deejay-singer for two years now. I do weddings and corporate shows.”

But her main occupation is being wife to Rob and mother to their sons. Like a typical housewife in America with no maids, Patricia does the cooking and other household chores.

“I wake up early to prepare breakfast for Rob and Ryan,” Patricia described her daily routine. “Rob drives to his clinic and checks another clinic that he has put up at Solana Beach near our house. Then, I drive Ryan to school and rushes home to bathe RG. Then, I go to Dr. Tess’ clinic. I work only half days. From work, I fetch Ryan in school.”

She’s also involved in charity work dealing with battered women, earning a certificate of appreciation for it. She also donates books for school children in depressed areas here, bringing with her several boxfuls on this trip.

“Supportive si Rob sa akin,” said Patricia.

How do they keep a happy balance between them?

“We meet halfway,” said Patricia. “Nagbibigayan kami. No cultural differences between us.”
