DTI to entice foreign investors to set up infra facilities

Louella Desiderio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) is looking to entice more foreign investors to set up manufacturing facilities in the Philippines through the country’s participation in the world’s leading trade show for industrial technology.

In a statement, DTI’s export promotion arm Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM) said it is inviting Philippine industrial and electronics companies to take part in Hannover Messe in Germany as part of efforts to attract more investments for the country’s manufacturing sector.

“We are taking trade and investment promotion to a whole new level as we tap our partners for inclusive growth from the electronics sector in a trade mission to the world’s most important industrial trade show and the largest capital goods exhibition in Germany,” CITEM executive director Pauline Suaco-Juan said.

Dubbed as the world’s biggest industrial fair, the Hannover Messe being held from April 1 to 5, will feature groundbreaking technologies and innovations from automation to supplier solutions.

For the upcoming event, CITEM is organizing an exhibit for industrial and electronics manufacturing stakeholders.

“As a hotspot of the global industrial value chain, Hannover Messe is the prime platform to drumbeat and build up investor confidence in the Philippines as a rising powerhouse in manufacturing, industrial activities and other relevant technologies,” Suaco-Juan said.

“We still have limited slots open for Philippine companies that want to join the Philippine trade mission to Hannover,” she added.

In addition to the exhibit, business-to-business meetings will be held to link Philippine firms to potential investors, technology adapters, developers, suppliers and other stakeholders during the event.

To encourage firms to participate, CITEM is working with government agencies such as the Board of Investments and Philippine Economic Zone Authority.
