Borderfree offers free shipping for Visa cardholders

Donnabelle L. Gatdula - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - US-based global e-commerce solutions leader Borderfree has partnered with Visa to offer exclusive free shipping from its powerhouse roster of US retail clients to Visa cardholders in the Philippines.

Iain Jamieson, Visa country manager for the Philippines and Guam, said Borderfree has specifically designed a promotion for Philippine-based Visa cardholders.

During the offer period, Visa cardholders in these markets have the opportunity to shop with a slate of popular US retailers and receive free shipping for orders that reach a certain threshold when they use their Visa card. Participating retailers include Bloomingdale’s, Neiman Marcus, True Religion, AG Adriano Goldschmied, Garnet Hill, OnlineShoes.com, CHEFS Catalog and Jos. A. Bank.

Jamieson said they see an enormous potential for the online shopping landscape as e-commerce spending on Visa cards continued to experience strong growth over the past year.

Visa cardholders are making online purchases from their favorite fashion retailers to travel bookings as well as everyday purchases like groceries, movie tickets, personal electronic items and books.

“Filipinos are becoming more comfortable with online shopping because of the convenience it brings. With Christmas right around the corner, our partnership with Borderfree is timely because we all know that Filipinos celebrate the holiday season early and end it late. Our cardholders can look forward to a hassle-free Christmas shopping experience as we provide them with exclusive promotions and incentives from the global brands they love,” Jamieson said.

More than 140 US-based retailers rely on Borderfree to help them sell online in over 100 countries and territories and over 60 currencies.

Borderfree manages all aspects of international online retailing including: localized pricing and payment processing, landed cost calculation, customs clearance and brokerage, fraud management, logistics orchestration and customer-experience.

“We are excited to work with Visa to develop a range of exclusive promotions for international consumers,” Borderfree CEO Michael DeSimone said.

“Our retail partners look to Borderfree for insights and unique opportunities to help build their brands overseas. Working with Visa creates a powerful new channel for reaching millions of global shoppers that our retail clients are eager to leverage,” he said.

Based in New York City, Borderfree is the recognized market leader in international e-commerce, operating a technology and services platform that the world’s famous brands rely on to expand globally and transact with customers in 103 countries and territories and more than 60 currencies worldwide.

Visa, on the other hand, is a global payments technology company that connects consumers, businesses, financial institutions, and governments in more than 200 countries and territories to fast, secure and reliable electronic payments. It operates one of the world’s most advanced processing networks — VisaNet — that is capable of handling more than 30,000 transaction messages a second, with fraud protection for consumers and assured payment for merchants.
