Globe sees sustained hike in postpaid accts

Lawrence Agcaoili - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - Ayala-led Globe Telecom Inc. is cementing its leadership in the postpaid business with the launch of revolutionary offers and providing subscribers with best smartphone deals through partnerships with device manufacturers.

Martha Sazon, head of Globe postpaid, said in a statement that the company’s postpaid business is poised to grow further in the second quarter of the year and would contribute heavily to its overall mobile business.

“With successive quarters of growth in subscriber base and revenues, Globe Postpaid continues to provide solid contribution to the company’s overall mobile business,” Sazon stressed.

Globe earlier reported a 21-percent jump in the number of postpaid subscribers to 1.9 million in the first quarter of the year from 1.5 million in the same period last year as gross acquisitions soared 35 percent to a record-high of over 205,000 in the first quarter.

Likewise, the company reported a 44-percent jump in net postpaid additions to a quarterly high of over 122,000.

The telco provider said mobile service revenues grew 14 percent to P6 billion in the first quarter of the year from P5.3 billion in the same quarter last year with postpaid revenues accounting for 35 percent of the total.

Sazon said Globe has strengthened its partnerships with device manufacturers and offered the best smartphone deals to sustain the growth of its postpaid segment in the second quarter of the year.

She said the company has gained exclusivity to carry the new BlackBerry Z10 LTE under its suite of unlimited surfing plans and unveiled the Samsung Galaxy S4 last April.

Likewise, she added that Globe further upped the ante in postpaid with the launch of the best-ever My Super Plan where subscribers get more than what they pay for with postpaid plans now bundled with peso value amounts that are almost double the plan value.

The peso value amount can be allocated among combos in the form of call, text, and surfing services, consumable amount, and gadgets. Subscribers also have the flexibility to choose their contract periods ranging from six months to 30 months.

“Postpaid customers have become more discerning over the years as they look for offers that are relevant and give them value for money. So when it comes to postpaid, subscribers choose Globe and stay with Globe,” Sazon added.
