Emperor's New Home

- Angelo Puyat -

MANILA, Philippines - Announcing its move to a bigger and better home, Emperor Motorsports clogged the busy and bustling strip of Katipunan Avenue last November 12 (Friday) with some rare and high performance vehicles that made traffic laden motorists drool. On hand were a lot of JDM heavyweights like the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X, Nissan 370Z, and a host of tricked-out Nissan GTR R35s.

Dolf Santiago, owner and head of Emperor aptly describes the new casa as having a more spacious work bay to help accommodate parts installations, while also featuring a bigger floor area for Emperor’s showroom. The said showroom houses nothing but high-end and high-powered automobiles mostly not distributed locally. Inside, a cozy air-conditioned office with amenities like a flat screen TV and Playstation3 can keep clients entertained as they wait for their pride and joy to be tinkered on.

Headlining the launch of Emperor’s new home is its agreed partnership with HKS, a renowned Japanese tuning brand that is famous the world over. They are now the official carrier of the brand locally, and are proud to offer the HKS F-Con V-Pro stand-alone ECU. This device allows engine builders/tuners to truly custom design the engine parameters to fit its intended use, a sure fire way to squeeze the most performance from a car.

HKS embodies the pinnacle of top-tier engineering, manufacturing and distribution of high-performance aftermarket components for a wide variety of automobiles. It was formed in 1973 by Hiroyuki Hasegawa, a former engineer for the Yamaha Motor Company, and his partner Goichi Kitagawa, while the start-up capital was provided by Sigma Automotive (hence the name HKS). The company began operations by tuning gasoline-powered engines in a dairy-farming shed at the foot of Mount Fuji in Japan. The goal was to design and build high performance engines and components that major OE (original equipment) manufacturers could not or would not produce.

Present at the event was Dolf’s very own Nissan GTR R-35, which has received the gamut of upgrades from HKS. A known figure in the aftermarket circle, this Nissan has already been treated with the HKS GT600 package, allowing it to make 590 wheel horsepower, a theoretical 670 horsepower from the engine. The car has also ran a blistering 10.9 second quarter mile pass at the Clark International Speedway. Since the partnership with HKS Technical Singapore and Fong Mui Garage R Trading Pte Ltd has been consummated, this car has already been further modified to an HKS GT800 kit, the first ever in the country. Working in conjunction with local partner DTM Motorsports, a prestigious tuning house boasting of the most advanced dynamometer in the land, power output has already hit 716 wheel horsepower and is still climbing, already over a theoretical 800 horsepower at the crankshaft.

Emperor Motorsports also caters to almost all forms of sports and performance cars aside from the Nissan R35 GTR, and also sells the complete line of HKS Maintenance Products in the form of HKS fully-synthetic motorsports-grade lubricants specifically blended for the hot and dusty ASEAN Region. This again is in cooperation with HKS Technical Factory Singapore and Fong Mui Garage-R Trading Pte Ltd. Replacement filters and other consumable/service parts applicable to a wide range of vehicles are likewise offered.
