Cai Subijano - The Philippine Star

The bride wore chanel

MANILA, Philippines - “I’m just not one of those girls that’s had the kind of fantasy wedding thing,” Keira Knightley told Ellen Degeneres on her show last November. True enough, when it came to her wedding dress, Keira opted not to go all-out. In the ceremony last Saturday, the 28-year-old bride wore a Chanel couture spring/summer 2006 pale gray tulle bustier dress that she wore for a pre-BAFTA party back in 2008. She paired the dress with a white tweed jacket made especially for her by Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel pink and gray ballet pumps and a floral garland in her hair. She married Klaxons keyboardist James Righton in front of 11 people. An afternoon reception followed with over 50 guests. The two were introduced over two years ago by mutual friend Alexa Chung. As for what her groom wore — we don’t really care because Keira! Best wishes to the bride and groom!

Oh sh*t!

Pardon the language, but there’s just no other way to put it: While struggling to find her keys outside of her home in London, supermodel and inaugural Miss Vogue cover girl Cara Delevinge accidentally pulled out a small bag that contained what appeared to be cocaine right in front of the paps. Once it dropped to the ground, she immediately placed her foot over it, but not after they had taken a zillion photos. The next day, Brit paper The Sun published the photos and now, H&M, which made her the face of its Divided line is investigating them. “We have a zero tolerance policy towards drugs, and this also forms part of our advertising policy. Our team will evaluate the evidence over the next few days. If the story is true, then we will take action,” a rep told the Daily Mail. If found guilty, Cara could stand to lose her contract with them, in the same way they dropped Kate Moss in 2005. Curiously, Kate’s agent at Storm reported that despite being dropped by seven companies due to her drug scandal, Miss Moss’s earnings actually increased over time. This doesn’t send a good message, though. Karlie, we hope you’re smarter than this.

Costume drama

Givenchy designer Riccardo Tisci designed several heavily embroidered pieces for Boléro, a short spring performance of the Opéra de Paris, the leading opera company in France. The production ran under 17 minutes with the set and scenography designed by Riccardo’s friend and artist Marina Abramovic (you know, the weeping artist). “It is one of the dreams of a designer to design costumes for a ballet,” Tisci told Vogue.co.uk. “I have had offers in the past from many other big theaters and operas, but I never felt ready. When this one came along, I felt that it was the moment to say ‘yes’ for many reasons. First, being Italian, I am very proud to have been asked to create costumes by Brigitte Lefèvre, director of dance at Paris’s national Opera, which is the biggest opera theater in the world and is such an iconic institution in France. Second, because it is the Boléro. The project is amazing because it is made by a group of unique people with great talent, from the set design by Marina Abramovic to choreography by Sidi Larbi Cherkaoui and Damien Jalet.”

Winona forever

Can we just please take a sec to acknowledge how gorgeous Winona Ryder looks in Interview magazine? The 41-year-old actress appears to be as fresh and striking as she was when she appeared as Lelaina Pierce in the ‘90s film Reality Bites (BTW, did you know that that film was comedian Ben Stiller’s directial debut? Crazy!). In the magazine she speaks to editor in chief Stephen Mooallem about not being pretty enough for Hollywood — “The casting director said, ‘Listen, kid. You should not be an actress. You are not pretty enough. You should go back to wherever you came from and you should go to school. You don’t have it.’” She also spoke about her roles in two upcoming films: Homefront with James Franco and ‘70s period piece The Iceman, along with part two of the Worricker Trilogy, which she’s slated to film for. She even spoke about how she deals with the absurd pressure to get work done. “I have a little bit of traffic now on my forehead — which I’m like very proud of actually — and it’s interesting how people just instinctively are like, ‘Oh, maybe you should get something done for that.’ And it’s like, ‘Really?’”

Heir to the throne

British socialite Chloe Green and daughter of Topshop head honcho Sir Philip Green will be launching her own line of accessories in New York and Los Angeles Topshop stores on May 30. WWD appeared to have a bit of fun with this piece of news, introducing the news bite with: “Topshop tycoon Sir Philip Green doesn’t take research lightly, employing an army of personnel to do everything from studying new store locations to inspecting factories.” Then publishing this choice quote from Chloe: “Good market research for me is going to the clubs and seeing what the girls wear out.” While there are people who will contest that clubbing can count as research or as she put it, “reasearch” (Whatever, guys), we’ll give the girl a break. Who knows? Maybe she does have her father’s business acumen. Her line of accessories will include pumps punctured by spikes, chain-link gladiator sandals, high-top sneakers and heels that go up to five inches.
