Le Club’s Le Beaujolais Nouveau: Absolutely fantastique!

The French sure know how to throw a party. As they say, just leave it to the French – specifically, leave it to Le Club, the French Business Association of the Philippines.

Led by the team of president Roger Ferrari, Jean Pierre Etroit and Le Club managing director Henry Ortiz, the annual and fabi Le Beaujolais Nouveau 2001, Le Club’s most awaited event, drew some 1,600 guests from the French and other expat communities, captains of industry and hundreds of Filipino guests to the NBC Tent to enjoy a grand and festive banquet.

Le Beaujolais Nouveau has evolved into a spectacular affair where the guests get to sample the first output of the Beaujolais Nouveau, a two-month-old fruity wine, along with a wide selection of French delicacies.

The cavernous and chic NBC Tent was transformed into a festive venue with tasteful French decor, tables loaded with French delicacies, from cheeses of every kind, to sausages, bread, canapés, hors d’ oeuvres and of course, wines.

It was easily one of last year’s largest food extravaganzas. Traditional and contemporary French music played as the guests enjoyed the food and wine. Close to 2,000 guests indulged themselves no end.

Among those spotted in the crowd were CCA Philippines president Arthur Lopez who enjoyed the cheeses and breads; IT consultant Joe Rebano and his wife Roselle Rebano, president of Jayelles Holdings; Knit Queen Lulu Tan-Gan; and more members of the glitterati.

The traditional raffle, hosted by your columnist, capped the spectacular affair. Raymund Rufino won two Manila-Paris-Manila business class tickets courtesy of Air France. Jewelmer raffled off one pearl jewelry to a lucky guest.

Le Club’s latest grand affair, which culminated with guests dancing and partying through the early morning, has become one of the must-attended annual events. Most importantly, it has enabled the French community to foster even closer ties with their Filipino counterparts.

Of course, leave it to the French to do so in a most spectacular fashion.
