Moms need to drink milk, too

- Julie Cabatit-Alegre - The Philippine Star

Manila, Philippines -  So you think you’ve done everything you need to do to prepare for the coming of your baby. Everything in the nursery is in its proper place. Baby clothes have been bought. You even have a short list of possible names to give your newborn. What could you possibly have overlooked? How about your own health and comfort? While you are getting ready to take care of your baby, you need to take care of yourself, too.

“Proper nutrition and a mother’s comfort are important to having a healthy pregnancy and good lactation.” This important message comes from FrisoMum Gold, the milk drink “formulated for pregnant and lactating mothers,”

FrieslandCampina medical marketing manager Hazleena Hashim remarks.

“FrisoMum Gold is the first maternal milk supplement that provides vital nutrients while promoting healthy digestion through its PrePro System, an advanced formula of prebiotics and probiotics.”

“Prebiotics are food for good bacteria that help them grow,” Hashim explaind. It’s fiber base that increases the solubility of calcium to help its absorption in your body. Probiotics, on the other hand, are good bacteria that grow in the gut and help fight against harmful bacteria. “Together, prebiotics and probiotics help maintain good intestinal flora and a healthy digestive system.” Most mothers experience indigestion as well as constipation due to hormonal changes during pregnancy. The weight of the baby can also be a factor. A healthy digestive system during this time will ensure the mother’s comfort, which could affect the baby’s proper development.

“Two glasses a day will give you 80 percent of your daily requirement. There is no need to take pre-natal vitamins since FrisoMum is packed with important nutrients which your body needs,” Hashim points out. “Anyone can drink it — when you are just planning to get pregnant, as preparation; during pregnancy; and while breastfeeding.”

FrisoMum is manufactured by FrieslandCampina, “the global leader in nutritionally safe and gentle dairy products.” FrieslandCampina commercial director Jiggs Baarde shares, “It is the world’s largest dairy cooperative, owned by 20,000 farmers in Europe, who control the process of making milk ‘from grass to glass.’ They have their own farms, so they have control over the entire process, from the grasslands where the cows graze, to milking the cows, up to the finished product, so they are able to deliver safe, gentle, highly digestible milk products.”

FrisoMum is currently available for purchase through the New Beginnings website at http://newbeginnings.com.ph/products. Milk is made available online, accompanied by a simple and easy direct delivery service. The product is delivered directly to your home. This is a first in the country.

“The New Beginning Community (NBC) is an online support group of expectant moms,” Lexi Schulze, program host at the FrisoMum launch, explains. “It espouses a progressive maternity environment by providing vast information on safety and nutrition with the right prenatal milk, and valuable emotional support for mothers who are eagerly awaiting the arrival of their baby.”

It gives tips on common topics such as diapering, breastfeeding, fashion, health, and exercise while pregnant. You can like their page at www.facebook.com/newbeginnings.ph “and enjoy the journey of growing up together with your child.”

Pia Acevedo, certified life coach and founder of the Love Institute, spoke about three types of progressive moms. There is the easygoing mom who has her own time, not employed, leads an informal lifestyle. The social mom may be employed, clocks in nine to five, and is usually involved with groups. The ambitious mom likes branded items, may be engaged in business, or a woman of leisure.

At the FrisoMum launch, several expectant moms at different stages in their pregnancy and motherhood shared their own personal experiences. Cris de Guzman, an active member of the New Beginning Community, shared that going through her pregnancy felt like taking up MBA. She learned many new things.

Connie Zamora, a fashion entrepreneur with three kids of her own, admits to being a mix of an ambitious and easygoing, progressive mom. She likes to try new things with her kids while instilling discipline at the same time.

“Each child is unique. You raise your child the best way you know how, with the help of other resources such as your pediatrician, the Internet, and friends.” Acevedo declares. “Each pregnancy is a new beginning,” Lexi Schulze, who has two kids of her own, observes. “Each time is like a first time. No two kids are ever the same.”

FrisoMum Gold is your “first step to your new beginning.”
